Question :
How does this App come up with $77.00 “average value?”

I can’t find it that cheap anywhere.

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

12/3/2023 9:34:00 AM - Those average prices will be what users have entered into CT for their purchases. When you look at 'stores' you'll see most purchases were producer direct/wine-club. Additionally, wine-searcher has the first three months price history (Jul~Sep '22) at 74, 74 and 75 before jumping to $87. Nope, not likely to now find those prices now.

Based on some reviews, snagged one to try out. Not seeing what some of the press is all about, but perhaps Mendoza Malbec just isn't in my wheelhouse.

Surprised by all the positive reviews. Last night's bottle had the light body and acidity of unsweetened cranberry juice but not the fruit. It was herbal, savory and sour. I do love acidity but a counterbalance is required, and this didn't have it. It was hard to drink and I resorted to blending it with a fruitier, low-acid wine to create a complete whole.

  • Comment posted by rjquillin:

11/2/2021 7:46:00 PM - Appreciate the discussion here, but also find it interesting this seems to be the outlier bottle/TN. I'll be interested in your follow-up, as I've got six pending delivery. Sorry to hear Paul has sold the interests, but at least it was to Pax, so there's hope there for the future.

Not quite sure what to think of this. Rectangular rather than the more common oval label, cork reads Yuan Family Estate, Year of the Dog. Decent red blend, but even at the GO price of $27 difficult to find the value. At 5 years, perhaps additional time well help. Did pick up two additional after sampling the first.

The wine has medium acidity. It smells like blackberry, cranberry, almond, black currant (cassis), molasses, raspberry and cherry. The wine finishes medium. It tastes like black currant (cassis), Herbes de Provence, prune, walnut, gooseberry, molasses, raisin, butterscotch, black olive, strawberry jam and hay/straw. The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has round texture.
