Well, this wine and I have moved towards each other in last 15 years. PNP and it’s totally fine right out of the gate. Still good mid- acidity. Nice fruit Low tannin, but still well structured and all in balance. The nose is almost brunello-like with some distant menthol. Good stuff.

Woodier than I prefer...but not particularly woody by Spanish wine standards. Dark, brooding, and gritty. It delivers considerable earth-driven substance. It begs for Serrano ham, assorted cheeses, and olives.

Part of a Spanish wine tasting at a Steakhouse with my wine group. My final bottle of 6 that I purchased on release. Despite WA's warning, they all tasted very good and seemed to deserve WA's original lofty score. At this point, I think the wine finally started to show its age, and is now a little past its peak.

This is 50% Monastrell & 50% Petit Verdot.

This is nice and on latter side of its drinking window. Go figure w/ my palate. Brickish color on the edges. It is interesting an interesting wine at this stage, heady, soft, resolved with nice evolution and nothing that bites back. The benefit of drinking older wines. The nose is Spanish rustic. Understated fruits that are floral, slightly bright and yet have a stewy character. Ripe; blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, pomegranate, stewed black plums/plums. Vanillin, mid fruit cola, soft tarry notes, anise, dark rich forest floor w/ dry leaves, hint of mint, light caramel notes, dry top soil, soft, old tobacco, dry twig, used leather with withering & candied; dark, red & blue flowers.

The palate is on the leaner side. Rustic fruits of; blackberries, dark cherries, poached strawberries, pomegranate, stewed black plums/plums. Vanillin, mid fruit cola, soft tarry notes, anise, dark rich forest floor w/ dry leaves, hint of mint, light caramel notes, dry top soil, soft, old tobacco, sandy limestone, dry twig, used leather with withering & candied; dark, red & blue flowers. The acidity is really good. The finish is well balanced with nice structure and similar wire to wire.

Ripe fruit, made in a rustic and traditional style. Juicy, expansive, gritty, and long. Excellent balance and structure. A pleasant surprise!

A blend of Mourvèdre (50%) and Petit Verdot (50%). Aged for 13 months in oak, Petit Verdot in French oak barrels and Monastrell in American oak barrels. 14% alcohol.

Evolved and almost completely opaque blackish-red color with a developed maroon hue. Big, rather oak-heavy and quite tertiary nose with aromas of wizened cherries, some raisiny tones, a little bit of minty greenness, light gamey notes of meat, a hint of elderberry jam and a herbaceous touch of leafy character. The wine is dry, savory and rather tertiary on the palate with a full body and quite developed flavors of woody bitterness, some peppery spice, a little bit of sweet raisiny fruit, light umami notes of evolved gamey meat, a hint of dried figs and an oaky, bittersweet touch of dark chocolate. The wine has softened up considerably with age - the medium-minus acidity and ripe, fully resolved tannins don't contribute much to the structure. The finish is dry, gently grippy and somewhat bitter with flavors of raisiny dark fruit, some toasty oak tones, a little bit of meaty umami, light peppery tones, a hint of savory wood spice and a sweeter touch of dried figs.

About five years ago I tasted this wine and thought it was quite an impressive and balanced effort for a big Murcian red, showing still some potential for future development. Well, I don't know if there has been just some bottle variation, but this wine was fully tertiary with definitely no room whatsoever for any additional improvement - on the contrary, it feels like it's high time to drink the wine up! Five years ago this was still an impressively big and tightly-knit wine, but now most of the tannic grip has melted away and the overall feel is quite round and soft. Even though the wine is more savory than sweet with a good streak of balancing bitterness, the fruit department is getting rather raisiny and there's definitely some dried-fruit sweetness at the tip of the tongue. This is still enjoyable, but knowing how much better this wine was five years ago, I am somewhat disappointed in its evolutionary trajectory.

I was skeptical when I saw this at Grocery Outlet with the Wine Enthusiast 90 pt sticker — but for $4.99 I said “alright”

But sure enough, this is quite good, with a very pronounced nose of cracked black pepper, eucalyptus, charred leaves, dry dirt, crushed stones — some nice minerality. The palate isn’t maybe quite as impressive as the nose, but has some jammy black fruit and fresh red in the mid-palate and medium acidity that helps balance out the richness. The jammy quality appears a bit as it moves to the finish with the brightness more focused on the mid-palate. The Mourvèdre and Syrah show on the nose and the Cab seems like it shows up a tad more on the palate. There’s a nice bright young quality and the wine is light on its feet.

It’s not necessarily a perfect wine, but there’s a lot going on here — and insane amount going on here for $5. Always happy to discover something randomly — good stuff.

Ignore the cellar tracker drinking window. This wine is drinking at peak, and it has legs to stay on it's plateau for years to come. I bought this wine for it's unusual composition of 50% Mouvedre and 50% Petite Verdot. I recently discovered it in my cellar. Huge wine with fully resolved tannins, and copious fruit remaining. A little clumsy, and lacking acidity on the palate. I find the fruit a little cloying. Hot finish, reflecting the 14% alcohol.

Foggy red, brown color. Cherry, strawberry nose with some licorice. It's not very complex. It's pleasant, smooth taste. The sales rep said it was his Tuesday wine. I would agree. It's pleasant, easy drinking mid-week wine.

Still quite dark. Initially a bit of pruniness on the nose, but that blew off leading to some smokiness, blackberries and minerals. On the palate, lots of pencil lead and black fruits. I kept wondering where the Monastrell was because this seemed to be dominated by the Petit Verdot. Don't see much improvement, so recommend drink within the next year.

Not decanted, one glass consumed over ~45 minutes. Rich ruby color, aromatic, showing lots of fruit (black cherry and jammy mixed berries) with maybe a little spice or chocolate lurking. Not a ton going on, though, in the way of complexity. Little tannic structure, just okay acidity. A simple, juicy, crowdpleasing sort of wine, but for that, hard to argue with at <$10 or, even moreso, the $4 I found it for.

a blend of 55% Monastrell, 20% Syrah and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon. Beautiful nose with black fruit, leather, tobacco, earthy, pepper. Lots of flavor showing black fruit, leather, tobacco, pepper and a hint of chocolate in the finish. Early on, the Syrah aromas and flavors seemed to dominate. Later the wine seemed in better balance. A bargain at under $10. Part of our wine clubs virtual tasting "wines under $12".

Dang, this is good wine. At $6 a bottle,I want to dismiss it, but the wine is good. A good everyday drink.Smooth, light tannins, medium to long finish. Notes of black fruits, very mild spice. A good drink with Popeye’s ,or a good ribeye. I just hope Costco still has this wine when I go there next.

I won’t wax poetic on whether this wine is savory leather( the most absurd description,I have ever read), graphite, black fruit etc. the wine is very good for under $6 bucks per bottle. It is a very good red table wine. I have been trying to find an everyday wine for under $20 and this wine delivers. I prefer bold cabs and Aussie Shiraz, and for lunch with a ribeye, a chicken curry, crostini etc. this is the wine. I usually drink wines in The $60 up range, and frankly find this wine to be most enjoyable. Cook shrooms with it, tenderize a roast, or drink with a pbj. A Costco bargain.
