This was tasted alongside a 2016 Hudson little bit Chardonnay, which outdid this one by a significant amount. The nose of this wine showed a hint of flint, white flowers, mango and melon. This one was like buttered banana bread on the palate towards the front, and then sort of leaned out in the middle and finish towards more of a white flower and peach flesh character. Acidity compared to the 2016 Hudson was significantly less. It almost seems like this wine was created in a certain style while the grapes wanted to show another! |

The nose took a few minutes after pouring to open up, but had tropical fruit and a hint of butterscotch. Excellent balance; rich texture, ripe fruit, and acidity to back it up. These TOR chards improve with age and am starting to wonder if I need to save them all for 5 years before drinking. I don't know the story of the Hudson vineyard but this was the last bottling from TOR, which is a shame. |

Well balanced and present acidity against a woody character. This wine reminds me of an aged French Montrachet. Definitely different than the Tor's I have had. |

1/18/2016 - tomoem Likes this wine: 92 pointsThe least modern style Chardonnay I have seen from this maker. This wine is not like any of the recent vintages of Tor Hudson Vineyards wines. In the first hour where I was expecting an over-ripened fruit bomb I found less butter and more tartness (almost lemon zest). After an hour the wine began to lose its acidity revealing a more juicy mouthwatering fruity flavor. I would love to age this bottle a little because in retrospect, it was too fresh and young when we first opened the bottle. I will revisit in 2 years. |
