Beautiful wine. Earth, tannic, medium body, electrical wires for an hour. Then fruits appear, still hanging on to the tannins. This wine has a few more years but it’s wonderful right now.

Barnyard, wild game fat, juniper berries, ripe blueberries, ripe blackberries, ripe black cherries, black licorice, vanilla, caramel smoked cedar wood and mushroom powder on the nose. Definitely feel some French oak on this. Medium + intensity of aromas. Palate is more primary, showing mostly the plums, black cherries and blueberries. A lot less oak driven than the nose, which is a good thing. Tastes better than it smells, with a medium + intensity of flavors.

Full bodied with medium + acid and medium + tannins. Developing. Hold for at least 2-3 more years and hope the oak calms down. It could probably go 5-10.

Very nice with venison. Not too acidic or tannic, but peppery with interesting perfume. Not worth $90 in my opinion.

Big and oaky, dominated by wood including the tannic profile. This was mouth coating, with moderate extraction, balanced acidity, but quite a bit of makeup on. It had notes of smoked meat and blackberry compote. Well integrated and huge on the palate.

On the pop, whacks you with oak. It’s all that is left. Totally hollow and one glass out before recorking was too much for this that any remaining elements tired out readily. Drink if you got em, but overly oaked

Tasted over 2 hrs
-dark purple no bricking
-smoked meat vinyl sous bois
-med- acidity, med weight juicy if somewhat faded boysenberry plum liqueur some earthiness refreshing salinity and a faint tar element on the finish along with the med- tannins
-boy you can tell this comes from a ripe vintage with the color the flavor profile and lower acidity yet it avoids flabbiness as it is in full maturity

Garnet, opened up quite swiftly. The wine feels a little tired at the last sip. Drink sooner rather than later

Second bottle and even more impressed than first. In a blind tasting of Northern Rhone this stood out for its aromatic, balanced and effortless body delivering on the promise of a seductive nose of violets. Will pick up more of these and see how it develops but right now it’s on fire.

Tasted side by side with Tiercerolles cuvee from same vintage. This is comparatively more earthy and structured. Red fruits framed subtly by vanilla from deftly used oak. Seems possible this could age nicely, though today I’d drink the Tiercerolles hands down.

I didn’t take notes while tasting but this was fantastic. Rich animal and earthy notes along with granite and dark fruits. Beautiful now and feels like this will continue to get better.

Delightful and easy to drink, no big decant needed. To my taste, a classic Syrah from the homeland. Well balanced and very tasty.

That said, for a ready to drink bottle this is quite expensive. And I don't exactly see how this would evolve into something more impressive in 10 years. Probably wrong but there are neither huge tannins or acidity to resolve here.

Really good, very good, but I guess I'd think twice about loading my cellar with this one.

What an absolutely splendid wine! Eric Asimov has described a great Bourgogne Rouge as having "weightless intensity" and I will use his words to begin telling the story of the taste of this truly fine wine of contemplation from Louis Barruol and Kermit Lynch. IThe KL web site says it is 100% 30-50 yo Syrah. True elegance. Another word to name the taste is clarity. The taste rings -- like a bell. Or, as its name tells us -- the look of a rose. Nothing quite like this!

Medium gold. Notes after one hour opened. Oxidative nose, stone fruit. Full, complex and rich. Tropical fruits - pineapple, mango, hint of lime. Subtle oak. Nice backbone and delicious finish. Really good!

Out of the gate this feels lithe and lively, but that's quickly followed by a huge core of deep, penetrating blue and black fruits. Still has ample tannins, but it's quite refined and drinkable. Feels heavier than it is just because of that rich fruit, but is by no means cloying. I don't drink a lot of Syrahs these days, but this is an outstanding example. Highly delicious.

this wine is nice but not nearly worth the money.. deep purple.. nose of mint and blueberry.. the palate is black plum and blueberry and peppermint.. not much complexity.. really light acidity.. almost no tannin.. really could have used something to give it some structure

Deep, dark earth and black fruits in the nose which continue seamlessly into the mouth. A powerful wine that is balanced with tannins and acidity coming in at the end Rich enough to accompany braised short ribs, slapping down the fattiness without interfering with the unctuous mouthfeel. Enjoyed after the meal with little to no change in impression. Decanted for an hour and finished the bottle over 4 hours.

Much better than my last bottle from 2 years ago. This had no signs of reduction or off aromas and was singing right out of the gates. Feral, gamey nose with a dark berry and plum fruit core and a bit of drying tannins on the back end. Toes the line between traditional and modern styles. This is very old school on the nose but is a bit more plush and richer in the midpalate than you might see from an ultratraditionalist. Nonetheless, this is quite enjoyable, and continued to improve with air, so I'll try to hold off on my remaining bottles for a 5+ years.

An insane barnyard & bret funk dominated for the first 15 minutes, then just like that, it dissipated. Then, beautiful and restrained forward fruit well in front of any residual bret. This is a wine that grabs your attention for its typicity, beautiful structure, elegant in its rough edges. Oh la la. Medium finish is right. On the second night it was diminished, flat, I guess more a shooting star. For a fun night with dinner. Really overpriced.
