Very perfumed. Light red cherry color in the glass. Morello Cherry, strawberry, and raspberry flavors. Beautifully integrated tannins. Medium+ finish. This is a lovely wine. Retail price was $130. I get the raves, however, over-priced IMO.

This wine is showing very different than the 2019. This is a much more fruit forward wine and a lot less smokiness on the finish. Perfect acidity and tannins. Drinking well right out of the bottle. Perfect mid-week wine when you are looking for something different than a straight up cab. Quite nice and enjoyable blend.

Aromas of cherry and cola jump from the glass, tannic yet nicely integrated. Opened up nicely over an hour with a medium-bodied finish and cherry forward flavor.

Wonderful floral aromas followed by a field of beautifully fragrant violets ands hint of warm, sunshine soaked blueberries. Deep dark garnet in the glass nearly opaque with a razor sharp translucent edge. Flavors of blackberry, minerals, and dark chocolate. Tannins are soft, supple and smooth. Beautifully integrated and with many more years ahead. The finish envelopes the tongue and finishes long and memorable. Wonderful wine for a perfect night and perfect celebration of life and love!

Beautiful floral aromas of a spring field. Dark red almost inky. Dark fruit flavors of blackberry, mocha and dark bittersweet chocolate. Integrated tannins showing some grip. Beautifully structured with good acidity. Drinks way above its price point. Great value for this style of wine. Medium+ finish.

Decanted 2.5 hours. Nice floral aromas and Spring air. Flavors of aged plum, very acidic with no other fruit flavors. Strong, dense tannins. Very strange taste on mid/rear palate almost like wet carpet? I did not care for this wine.

4/25/2021 10:34:00 AM - Thanks for the comment! It may have very well been corked. The flavor just did not reflect what I’ve normally experienced with other corked wines. You may be right however as I do not normally drink brunellos, perhaps the grape imparted a different flavor hence my not being able to recognize. Again, thanks for the comment!

As I sipped this wine, I was immediately reminded of the movie Armageddon where Bruce Willis is left behind to trigger the nuke and after the folks in the escaping space shuttle debate the wisdom of returning once the required period of time has passed, Ben Afflect says, "Harry will do it. I know. He doesn't know how to fail." This wine is good. The Halls don't know how to fail. It's dark and has a nose of cassis. The palate is intriguing because it offers up both a fresh fruity dark berry along with a touch of earthiness to convey a semblance of age. Two faced, you might say. The tannins are solid suggesting a few more years may benefit this wine. A moderate finish. Very nice wine and at $50 a great deal. Well worth it.

Some floral aromas, but largely muted. Some blackberry flavors, seems muddled. Good acidity but lacks structure and appears linear. Seems flabby and relatively uninteresting. Light tannins, short finish.

11/29/2020 11:52:00 AM - Thank you for the feedback. The comments from the others tasting the same vintage (different bottles due to social distancing) were all fairly different than mine last night. There was nothing seemingly wrong with the bottle, it just did not jump like other wines from Ridge which I've come to expect. I will revisit tonight and if anything is different, will adjust my rating in fairness to the winemaker. Again, thanks for the feedback!

This is a surprisingly good wine. It has a bright bouquet of violets. The color is dark red with translucent edges. Bright red fruit flavors of cherry, strawberry and pomegranate. Great acidity and freshness. Tannins are soft, smooth, and structured making way to a vivid medium plus finish. Fantastic price point.

Dark brick in the glass. This wine has a beautifully fragrant nose. The tannins are round and smooth bringing a mellow softness to the wine in the mouth. This is a fruit forward wine with lots of black fruit full of brambly blackberry and having good acidity. The wine has a long, memorable finish. Nicely done.

Not a summer night red. Too rich and woody. Save for winter or lay to age a bit yet

  • Comment posted by Tym4wine:

8/13/2017 6:57:00 AM - While the summer weather may affect the enjoyment of a full -bodied red, the rating provided seems to misrepresent the caliber and quality of this wine - unless you truly believe the wine tasted poorly. If that is the case, then you should share with the community what you experienced with the wine - taste, flavor, aroma, mouthfeel, etc. - that lead to your conclusion for a low rating. Even in an instance when a rating is low, comments generally help the reader understand the why behind the rating.
