Beautiful balance between red and black fruit. The texture on the palate is so smooth and velvety with a super long finish. What a wine!

2019 Bordeaux Tasting, MW tasting (Vintner's Hall, London): 62% CS 35.5% Mer 2% PV 0.5% CF, 14.50%
Big bold black fruit flavors but not heavy at all, black currant, floral notes
Palate is juicy, fine and elegant tannins, black fruit, med to fill body, long finish. Elegant flavors, beautiful structure, layered, only a touch warm

Dark cherry and a bit of oak on the nose. Dark black and blue fruit on the palate. Still a bit of oak left to integrate. Hints of coffee. Velvety tannins that have a bit of bite. Nice mid palate for this estate, which is unusual. Good effort and QPR. Best wine I’ve had from this chateau.

Needs time. I feel like might've enjoyed this at an awkward stage. It's a good drink but didn't have the complexity and excitement that I have come to get to know with this wine from prior vintages. Maybe it was caught at an awkward stage. Will wait before opening another.

Part of an ‘08 Bordeaux tasting with Toronto Vintner’s Club. This was the group’s favourite alongside 7 other 08 Bordeaux. Nice use of wood with good structure. Drinking well now.

Very good BDM. Drank this at Bar Isabel with a wonderful meal. This needs a ton of air at this stage an we didn't give it the time it needed to really show all of its colours. Will buy more and will probably decant for at least 2+ hours next time.

2020 Château Léoville Poyferré

St. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more

1/29/2023 - englishman's claret wrote: NR

The 2020 seems quite a deviation from Leoville Poyferre's track between 2015 and 2019, showing a really big, robust, reticent character, begrudgingly showing some black fruit and a huge whack of tannin. Hard to analyze now; hard to taste at the moment. Different from not only the Leoville Poyferres of the recent past, but quite different from the other 2020 St. Juliens on show at the UGC.
