This should be a stunner, but wasn’t. The cork started slipped into bottle when I was opening, and the wine was more advanced than it should be. Good fruit (peach and melon), but petrol is very high, and it’s got a honied/apricot note and a bit of VA. Blind I might have thought this was a mid-90s Rheingau Auslese. Tasty, but not what is should be. B on taste, C+ for meeting expectations. Hopefully just a poor cork

4/5/2022 12:31:00 PM - Seth, pretty sure it was just the cork. It was small enough that it went back in with no pressure at all, unusual. Stored well, was standing upright for month or two, but that shouldn't have been problem. I'll open another soon to check in

Color was a little darker than I expected, but racy and young on nose and palate. Petrol, citrus, herbs, with long stony finish. A-

10/31/2020 7:15:00 PM - Yes, quite dry. We did with a cabbage/Chinese sausage stirfry, but would be great with choucroute (come to think of it, we had kind of an Asian choucroute), chicken, moderately funky cheese like real Muenster, bigger seafood dishes,

No disgorgement date - not sure why Rodolphe doesn’t disclose this crucial information for consumers who actually buy the wine rather than the critics who get free access and transparency of what’s exactly in the bottle. Basically I don’t see the uplift from this cuvee compared to the Reserve which is a lovely expression for the price.

I was a little worried at darker than remembered color, but this is beautiful. Intensely smoky, with petrol notes over apple fruit. Big but balanced, great acids, minerally finish. A-/B+

It's not bone dry but only a hint of RS.

replacement for corked bottle, Lighter than I remembered at first but seemed to be putting on weight with air. This never got to the stunning stage that I expect from Constance but I left as it was still developing What I tasted B+/A-, but 89 Constance is usually an A for me, this probably just needed air.

Very nice- apple, citrus peel, leesy/yeasty notes with an exotic overlay of ginger. Tasty and distinctive. A-/B+

A recent surprise cellar finding, this is midbodied, with some grainy tannin remaining. Modest black plum fruit, some leather, a little green. Rather short, not very charming. B-/C+

(375) Color is dark gold, there are some distinct oxidative notes on the nose. It actually improves a bit with air, but there are still some caramelly oxidative notes, mixed with the honey and quince. Good length, though. I enjoyed this by pretending it was 30 years old rather than 11.

I agree the Isa is good for people who dislike gooseberry/catpee/grass. I don't necessarily mind those in moderation. In this case I prefer to just think of it as wine (and good wine)

As to posting from CT, I've been writing up my notes for almost 15 years. I keep an open file where I note impressions and food matches, and my non-W.Knapp compliant context. I think Eric has done a great job, but his intro/flights/coda structure doesn't fit how I write notes. Plus I prefer to write notes w/o reference- if I go through CT,I see what others (and I!) wrote before.
