Excellent bottle of this showing a fully mature flavor profile but with plenty of richness and acidity in the style of the vintage. Really complex and satisfying on the finish with notes of clove spice, caramel and minerals. Plenty of vigor and plenty of life left in this gorgeous vintage of Krug.

Some nice Burgundies (Chicago, IL): Been quite a long while since I had this last. For my palate, this is starting to get long in the tooth. The old-school Krug weight is here for sure, but there are lots of browning notes to the fruit here. Plenty of acidity to cut the richness on the palate, but also a bit of nuttiness from the age.

Opened and served over next 2 hours. Gold colour. Minuscule bubbles. Nose of oyster shell, honey and a hint of curry powder. Uniquely silky palate. Rich, elegant and precise. Creamy. Simply perfect. I could bathe in this.

I guessed Krug 3rd label from Magnum. It was more complex than a "regular" Millesime and less acidity than a 1996 Krug but I was wrong. Still an amzing champagne. 2 decades ahead. 95

Single blind but bottles pulled at random.

Apple soda, chinese pears and popcorn dominate the bouquet. This had much more development on this and I felt this was in a good place today.

Liz's B-Day Dinner at Singapore Swimming Club - Krug Vintage Vertical (Singapore Swimming Club): Krug Vintage vertical spanning Collection 1988/1996/1998/2000/2002/2003/2004/2006. Blind tasting. This came up second on the night. Deep gold colour. Honeyed notes. Wax, curry and zaffron. Pleasant oxidative notes on the nose. Together with the 1998 and 1988 Collection this showed some proper evolution while all post 1998 vintages (with exception of 2003 likely on a faster aging curve) were still infants and not yet breaking from 'general' Krug taste, i.e. one I associate with primary Krug NVs. Can drink now, no need to wait

Ojai Food + Wine Festival; 10/26/2023-10/29/2023 (Ojai Valley Inn): Could definitely tell the age on this bottle. Color was a dark honey/caramel with oxidized flavors to match and effervescence has diminished. Still a lovely bottle. I wouldn't call it over the hill like some have said, but I certainly wouldn't guess it will get better with more age.

Exquisite and well rounded, the effervescence has diminished somewhat but the flavor profile was extraordinary. I would say it's a touch past peak, imo.

Tasted blind, this wine had a light gold center with moderate effervescence. The moderate intensity nose generated citrus, egg cream, white stone, and some brioche notes.

In the mouth, this wine was rich but with a powerful citrus tang that made it very long. There was no hint of oakiness, oxidation, or excess lees, that sometimes appear in Krug wines.

While this will last for a while, I would be looking for excuses to pop the cork on these bottles. Impressive!

Followed over 2 hrs. A kaleidoscope of flavors. Morphed into an acid bomb in a good way which only Krug can do, perhaps some Henri Giraud a close second.

Still had heaps of life and bubbles. However, I get the feeling this bottle was on the back side of peak and I should not wait long to consume my remaining bottles. Had nice mousse at first opening. This then transitioned into great yeastie orange lemon zesty yummines. Yeast then dissipated to leave simply a blast of super tart lemon orange zing. Was this a sign its past its prime? Hard to say. Even more hard to assign a score, think I'll have to drink a few more bottles to determine!!!! Regardless, I loved this bottle and Krug! ))

This was like liquid steel!

Purchased and held since release and this was stunning tonight. Massive sweet orchard fruit. Almost overwhelming in size and ripeness but the acid on this wine is piercing (in a good way) keeping it all together. The density and length of this is off the charts and it never feels heavy despite how much is packed in. Really hard to imagine a better example in this style.

Yvelin's farewell: Fairly tight at first, wasn’t showing much with a worrying golden colour. Fortunately it came around after a couple of hours, old-school Krug with expressive ripe orchard fruit, but not as imposing as I would’ve expected from a wine of such pedigree. Rich but insufficient tension / interest.
