4/5/2024 - HWG99 Likes this wine: 88 pointsA very rare cru near clos de la roche. Les Charrières' east-facing position at the bottom of the slope gives the vines a gentle angle toward the rising sun. This exposure helps the vines to develop sugars and phenols in the cool Burgundian climate, but this is less efficient than in the steeper vineyards higher on the hill (which also have slightly better drainage). As such, grapes retain more acidity and Les Charrieres Premier Cru wines tend to be slightly leaner than Morey-Saint-Denis Grand Cru wines. |

4/1/2024 - john_s Likes this wine: NRStill a bit young. Great mouth filling balance and texture. Tannin is powdery and integrated. Aftertaste still somewhat tannic (not at all bitter). Needs a few years. |

2/9/2024 - PJRwine Likes this wine: NR(Out of half bottle) Still youthful, red fruits on the nose, with seductive raspberry and red cherry evident. Red cherry and very good acidity. This has years to run. Still feels like a baby, but drinking well now. |

2/2/2024 - sid_loves_wine Likes this wine: 92 pointsAbsolutely wonderful except for one thing holding it back- the structure. The fruit is beautiful, ripe, and complex, with deep black cherry compote, almost veering into a muddled blueberry vibe, and there's a nice dose of earthiness that never gets in the way of the fruit- a bit of soil, leather, dark herbal shades, faint minerality, and so on. Smells like a great example of Burgundy from a hot vintage, with thick fruit that still appears "fresh" and aromatic. Then you get to the palate. This is very possibly- no, definitely- the MOST TANNIC Pinot Noir I've ever tried, from any region or vintage. Extremely coarse, furry, and gritty. Lingers on the tongue like sandpaper. Sure, the acidity and fruit are still there, but this is harsher, texturally, than many a young Nebbiolo or Left-Bank Bordeaux. Food is DESPERATELY needed for this wine, with some fatty charcuterie taking some of the edge off. Then again, maybe what it really needs is a lot more time. I bet this could be considerably better in like 10-15 years, which is something I almost never say about any wine, let alone Pinot. |

1/12/2024 - PJRwine Likes this wine: NRI rarely drink a 2007 that disappoints and this is no exception. Yes it lacks the tension and complexity that you hope to find in a good vintage, but quaffability should never be ignored. From a 375ml this is drinking beautifully for me, with only early tertiary development and still plenty of fruit weight on the palate. v good. |

12/22/2023 - bram_epicurien Likes this wine: 92 pointsFriday evening in bonneville. The start of the Christmas holidays so we are all happy. Medium ruby color. Dried red cherries, smoke, ash, wet forest floor, vanilla, black pepper, nice and perfumed nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, dry and green tannins, med finish. Nice red fruit, smoky mouth, touch of capsicum, mushroom, subtle black truffles, ash, minerality, very subtle, enjoyable. Very likeable and subtle! I know this house over a decade and these wines are always rustic and tannic over the first 7-8 years but once this is dissolved they become beautiful and very drinkable wines. Bought at the time directly from the domaine for ca 35 euros. |

Rating here based on my final tastes nearly 4 full days after opening. The palate finally emerged with a mix of red fruit and mineral notes and a stern collection of chewy tannin. Sulfur nose did not subside for days! Off bottle?? |
