Ripe, sweet blackberry fruit with mocha and some iodine notes. Full-bodied mouthful of velvety rich dark fruit flows seamlessly across the palate with some spice and a pronounced dark cherry note. Well-balanced for such a big wine. A superb bottle and very enjoyable. |

This has now tipped over the edge from the exuberance it had in its youth to a slightly past its best mature fruit bomb. Still an impenetrable dark colour but with a slight rusty sheen, a mix of sweet blackberry with some prominent pruney notes and its 15.5% abv very much in evidence. Almost too rich. Lots of mature fruit on the palate and with considerable length, but just lacking freshness. An hour decant improved the experience. |
