I thought from a ripe 70s vintage (most likely 1971?) with plenty of slowly cooked mushroom and black truffle. Plenty of red and black cherry lingering around here, this is wonderfully complex and layered, and even better now vs when last tasted nearly a decade ago. |

Good to start, black truffle with the food brought out so much more here. Ok a bit volatile and a little flaccid. I thought the last wine was Gevrey (it was Corton), so I doubled down thinking this was again Gevrey, this time thinking 1979 or 1980. Oops. |

7/7/2017 - dcwino wrote: 94 pointsTwo friends sharing three bottles of wine - Part 3 (Ruth Chris Tysons Corner, VA): Fully mature nose displaying mostly tertiary nose, only a slight hint of dry cherry, plum, soy, iron, leather, cedar and cola. Fully resolved palate, a hint of cherry, silky, very polished, incredibly sweet, iron, medium acidity and a long finish with soy and cola at the end. Not the most complex expression of Chambertin but showing wonderful sweetness, which can be attributed to proper cellaring. |

10/2/2016 - bacchuszuo Likes this wine: 93 pointsLovely tertiary nose of dried flower pedal, mushroom and truffles. Classic Vosne stew strawberry nose. Light garnet/berry tea color, incredible high fill level with fresh cork(recork?). More complicated on the nose than the palate. Mid body with lasting intensity with resolved yet significant tannin and lasting acidity. |

2/11/2014 - daver852 Does not like this wine: 82 pointsA blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Light color, not much on the nose. Thin, tart, lacking fruit with fairly high acidity. Little Bordeaux character. Has an underlying bitterness and a short finish. Would not buy again at any price. |

4/15/2012 - JumpAroundOnGrapes wrote: 79 pointsOkay fruit, but no finish whatsoever. Felt like it was a watered down version of a right bank Bordeaux, which are already typically softer (due to the higher percentage of Merlot vs. Cab) compared to their left bank counterparts. Would not buy again--there are better deals at $10. |

I cannot find any reference to his particular odor as a wine fault. Left to breath for a while, the odor would abate somewhat. Oddly (or not, I don't know if I have enough education in this area), the aroma did not apply to the taste. |
