Not for the first time I could cut and paste what thesternowl said. I would add that if you open this, please give it an hour or two of air, as it takes that much time to cycle through a lot of changes. It reminded me after two hours of a good 1er cru Chassagne. Happy to hold onto my other bottle for a while, as it's going to keep being interesting.

The hype around this wine is utterly lost on me. Tried over 3 days. Yes, it’s intensely structured, I’ll give you that. But it’s also unyielding and almost devoid of fruit. I can only hope that this evolves, as those with more experience tell me it will. Right now, I feel like I spent a lot of money on a case of wine that will never be pleasurable to drink.

Excellent analyses of the flavor profile in both notes below. For myself, I wish I hadn't leaned into the "it's accessible!" thing - I mean, sure, you can drink it. But even after a 3-4 hour decant, it doesn't yet show why we are so insane about these wines. The aroma and taste improved with every moment after 4 hours, so maybe a 6-8 hour decant makes more sense if you're going to pop one. I enjoyed and regretted every sip.

As the note below mentioned this is really different from the chuy Chardonnay, which for me is a really good thing! Pears, stone fruits, stony minerals on the nose, tense and bright palate with really bright acidity and a beautiful saline medium +finish

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Consistent throughout. The 2021 “Placida Vineyard” pours a slightly hazy, bright yellow with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is youthful with tart lemon, lime, star fruit, and minerals. Definitely some ethyl acetate there too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium++ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long, creamy, lightly buttery and lovely minerals. This is quite the departure from the “Chuy Vineyard” which was the previous, one-and-done, Chardonnay from Ketan. This gave me some Chassagne-Montrachet with a really soft hand, vibes. It’s very young. I’ll hold my remaining bottle for several years down the road. Fun now for all its youthful energy but better after 2026 and through 2040. Paired very well with lamb massaman, larb and papaya salad.

Based on the other review I decided to give this one a try, even though I know these Beta’s are for the long haul. The accessibility of the 2019 vintage showed through with this one and it is excellent now although obviously nowhere near peak. I would still say this is a wine for the long haul. I gave this a 3 hour decant, drank over the next 3 with some left to try in the coming days.
So impressive, the nose is intense and jumps out as soon as you open the bottle. The fascinating thing about this wine is the almost classic Napa nose with almost an old world style Bordeaux palate. Truly the best of both worlds. I say almost classic on the nose because in addition to the ripe Napa fruit there is a floral perfumed note that is unique. On the palate the fruit is more restrained (in a good way) and there are many layers of complexity including various green notes. Not unripe green and not overly pyrazine but some green pepper and also some garrigue.
This note feels a bit rambling but let me just sum it up by saying there is a lot going on here.

Really needs a few hours to open up! But ready to drink if you decant two or three hours before serving.

Dark red, with an exuberant nose centered on blackberry and cherry, plum torte, exotic spices, a hint of musk. Flavorful without seeming heavy, limpid, tart, palate-staining, long finish. Rather soft and silky.

Reminds me of the 1986 Pichan Comtesse de Lalande (which was a very good vintage that I owned and cellared).

Folks who visited seemed to think this was the most wide open of the 2019s, so I figured I'd give it a go. Well, they were correct, and this wine is really lovely and wide open at this juncture. There is a plenty of tannic backbone so I would have no issue aging for 5-10 years, but drinking really nicely now. It has much less green than the last few Betas I've had (admittedly all much older releases...have put most into deep storage), with nice medium weight fruit, good but not overwhelming acidity, no notable alcohol. Really just a delicious wine.

Green apples and buttery smoke. Quite tasty. This is on the cusp of being a "big" chardonnay. Viscous. Acid is on the lower end.

I'd probably drink this sooner rather than later, it lost some complexity from last year.

A great bottle- was not decanted but I needed something for my son's 47th bday. One of the best bottles I,ve had in a long time. Cherry dominated the taste, so well balnanced. Glad I have 3 bottles of Beta left.

Tasted on the mountain with Ketan. Loved this.

Just starting to turn and show some age. After about 6h of air it is shows a great balance between aged fruit and mountain structure. The more air it sees the more the aged notes come out.

A lovely wine that is drinking at peak for me. Will comfortably cellar for another 5+ years.

Really captivating nose of a blackberry jam without the jam, dusty minerals and spice notes on the nose, elegantly focused palate with lots of beautiful fruit and spices come through, ripe, yet well integrated tannins, medium acidity and a ping fruit filled finish. Beautifully well made wine

I opened this with the expectation of somehow comparing it to the uniqueness of the Beta cab offerings. It's a pretty standard chardonnay (light acid, creamy, some minerality, low-medium fruit) without anything that stands out enough that would make me wait for it to be released again.

A nice chardonnay. I'm not a very experienced drinker of this varietal, so can't comment on its relative merits, but I enjoyed it - which is more than I can say for most chardonnay I've tried!

A light and epiphany type wine that new world cabs can be made in quite light and aromatic expressions (vs rich and opulent and high alcohol). I blind tricked my dad into thinking the Marquis calon segur was the new world option. This is 13.7% and I’m getting strawberry and floral notes of violets, orange blossoms, maybe even roses. A light and sweet yet deep cassis and some blue fruit to compliment the strawberry. Outstanding stuff !!

Holy moley.
I last had this about 6 years ago. It has started to come around, but it's clear that its finest days are a decade or two or three from now. Brought to a lunch with a smart friend and blinded him with it. From the nose, he guessed old world, possibly grenache or cab franc. He got close to cabernet sauvignon, but the herbal note - not an earthy one - threw him. He was shocked to hear it was domestic, but then we let it sit another hour as we ate, and he noted that it was like a relative to 1970s or early '80s Cal cabs, but more Sonoma than Napa, which seems right to me. He laughed at the reveal, because he has had the 2019 WITH KETAN sitting in the middle of Jasud, and the connection became clear when he saw the label. A truly special experience, best of the last 12 months if not more. Will. Last.

Very tannic. Wait 10 years. Needed cheese (pepperjack worked well).

Double decanted in AM and tasted in evening. Still improved with air in the glass - would do a full decant the next time. Dark berries, plum, cherry. A kiss of sucrosity but not overripe. Dense with nice freshness. Subtle notes of tobacco, smoke, rose. Lots of tannin in midpalate and finish, that dominates.
