This is drinking quite nicely, albeit on the younger side. Oak is still integrating with the wine's dark fruited and ripe black cherry and vanilla notes. NOSE: pressed sage; a hasty blooming veil of cranberry chutney; mint/wintergreen burrs. MOUTH: velvet decaf vanilla sandalwood, ladeled over with thick, rocky coastal air. Acidity, leather-lined sleeves, fresh drinking; this doesn't taste a day older than 30, lol. Simple youth to a fault. (Embalmed? I think not.) I like it. I'm drinking it. Tbh, I was guarded against something much less interesting. ________ 48 hours later, resealed from the fridge, more surprises: a brief pour paired with spinach braised in beef stock (w/reggiano and piquin) where the chill dials up a minty fresh side of this wine's red/blue fruit.
