I had it with rare steak and grilled vegetable. It got better with extra year in the cellar. It is ready to drink now. Dark red with a chocolate and berry flavor. Glad to have several to enjoy in the next few years.

This bottle was singing tonight. Loved the smooth tannins and the structure and complexity. You wouldn’t mistake it for Scarecrow but it was really tasty. Had blackberry and slightly blueberry notes with a faint hint of vanilla and crème de cassis. I only bought one bottle from Spectrumwine way back in the day. That was a mistake. This was terrific for the price I paid. Of course it was because I only bought one. ☝️

Gifted this one by Agelvis....pnp'd with family for the ballgame tonight. Enjoyed with Carol's baby back ribs and all the fixin's.

Dark garnet in the glass. Pretty muted and standard Napa cab nose, nothing remarkable. Palate we even less remarkable. Thin, red fruit and not much else, until......it gets about 2 hours of air. Then it fills out, grows deeper, darker and very flavorful at that point. Not overly complex in any way but very good compared to the 88-89 it started with at the pnp. Might even border on a 93 by the end of the bottle. Thanks J, this was fun to share with the family.

Excellent Bordeaux like wine. Getting a little on the old side of this date, but still very nice smooth tanning.

This was absolutely delicious, drinking better than previous. Very fresh bouquet and on the palate with sweet, fine tannins. Dominant flavors of blue and dark red fruit, cassis, crushed stones/mineral tones with a minty finish. This was fabulous and I will drink my remaining 2 bottles within the next few months. No need to wait - it's basically in its prime.

94+ points (excellent)

Nicely balanced mountain cab. Blueberry and black cherry on the palate. Medium finish. Moderate tannins. Black fruit on the finish with little else. Solid wine but one dimensional.

Really iffy on this. Based on my last tasting a year ago this has to be corked; Just nothing at all on the nose or palate.

Guess this off and will offer to return to Spire on our next visit. Opened another CF from their collection instead, a 2016 Mt Brave

Nicely ripened Cabernet Sauvignon, so the varietal character remains, including some of the bell pepper. Deep purple color. Well-integrated oak (cola, clove, vanilla, charred wook). QPR is solid. Very good.

Displaying strong aromas of cocoa, dark chocolate and tobbaco, still refreshing and well balanced on the palate.

90-minute double decant. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Red apple peel, menthol, and river rock. Tongue drying palate, with grainy acidity. Firm, full tannins on the medium finish.

This is worse than my last bottle and I don’t imagine it will improve. There’s no flaw. I bought it two years ago because Galloni gave it 96 points. I’ve never been so disappointed in a purchase. Fortunately, the bottles are not so expensive.

Good value, has enough complexity and depth to be interesting. Not a fruit bomb but more nuanced.

The floral nose offers cherry, violet, plum, currant, and clay pot. Structurally it’s solidly medium bodied with lean juicy acidity that’s seamlessly integrated with elegant densely grained tannin. It’s surprisingly light in weight and while it hits with a juicy splash up front, the finish is quick to fade. The flavor profile includes cherry, blueberry, cigar box, pipe tobacco, violet, and tart blood orange. It should have a fascinating evolution over the next ten years.

I think we bought this to round out a case after sampling it at the winery. While you could count our lifetime Rose purchases on both hands, this actually may have me rethink my approach, at least for summertime.

While I have few roses to compare this against, the Sangiovese stands out as refreshing and enjoyable, and comes across as a truly unique wine that I could envision enjoy with food as much as I am enjoying it in the pool. Mrs. David and, Rose is presently teaching a class cooking class, and I had to pour a splash for her students as this struck me as a perfect pairing for the peach pie dessert theyre about to enjoy.

Delivers a solid value

Most recent tasting notes capture (no pun intended) the wine profile and tasting notes. First of seven I bought and enjoyed this wine a lot. Smooth and integrated tannins with a wonderful note took about 30 minutes for this wine to reveal itself. Enjoyable and glad i still have half a case to enjoy over the next few years.

Coravin'd a glass 2 night ago, pulled the cork and got into it. Red fruit dominates both the nose and palate, there's still soft tannins but I'd guess this is on its downside and should be consumed with a year or two to ensure sufficient structure. Plum, cherry....maybe cranberry too?

87% CS / 17% Merlot, at this stage of its life it could pass for a heftier new world Pinot. Replacement for a corked bottle of the '15 vintage.

Two hour double decant. Very deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, persimmon, mint tea, peony, rye bread, and minerality. Smooth, somewhat tart, tongue drying, medium+ bodied palate. Firm, full tannins on the long finish.

This is an interesting study. Great overall structure, but there’s a sharpness that cheapens the wine. Initially bought this for $65 because of a 96 score from Vinous (Decanter tasting panel gave it an 89). It’s never going to be a 96 IMHO. Hard to say where this will go.

Additional note: This did fly across the United States two days ago, so it’s possible that had some impact. I have two more bottles and report back in a year or so.

Friday Night Brown Bagger (R&D’s): Double blind. Quite pale in color with notes of cherry, white currant and florals. Muted fruit elements on t(e palate with a tinny metallic quality and mineral tone in the finish. I find the metallic note a little distracting.

This has aged really nicely. Still has brisk, plush acid while the flavors have loosened and melded beautifully. Drinking at prime now. Stone fruits, a bit of tropics, slate and white pepper. Great effort.

Very dark red/purple color. PNP, drank a glass plus over 2 hours. Had this with family at Easter dinner. This is a pretty straight up cab done really well. Great fruit, nice purity to the deep dark mountain berries and black currants, cocao, silky and long with impeccable balance. And best yet, my dad loves it. 92+pts.
