Much like my review of the 2019 vintage, only better yet. Short decant. Nearly black purple. Black fruits/berries, plum, chocolate and tobacco. Rich, full bodied, smooth, mouthcoating. Great balance. Integrated tannins and a long, long finish. Another great wine from Ed.

Inky color. This wine is extremely opaque. Deep dark fruits on the nose. It’s so dark it looks like they added dye to the wine. Get a bit of alcohol on the nose but not as heavy as most cali cabs i smell. I smell some oak also I get a typical cali cab smell Taste pretty good. The fruit isn’t powerful. Neither are the tannins or the acidity. I popped an poured by the way. Finish kinda sits on the back of the palate. Not a ton going on here but a good drinking wine all in all. Would go well with some bbq. An okay drinker whether or not you are enjoying with food. Would’ve given it a higher score if the wine was more complex.
I did get a slight headache the next morn. This could be one of those altered wines with additives. Smh. I will find out tomorrow morn if I wake up with another headache. I pumped the air out of the wine on night wine. Stored it in my reg refrigerator came back to it two days later I’m getting some earth notes on the nose with dark fruits an some wood influence. Wine does feel better than it did on the palate when I jumped right in the first night. Not as one dimensional as it was. Has a second gear now. Dark fruits on the palate. Still nothing jumps out , it’s kind of balanced.

Short decant. Deep purple. Violet nose. Black fruits, blackberry and plum with some spice notes. Rich, full bodied, fruit forward. Nice balance with grippy tannins and a medium length finish.

Opened two hours ahead, no decant. Dark purple with floral nose. Black and red fruits, chocolate, tobacco and earth. Medium/full body, balanced. Smooth, a bit savory. Fine grained tannins with a medium length finish. Good Napa value at $47.

On the first taste I thought this wine was bad. I just popped and poured. I then let it warm in the glass; was not impressed. After one day in the bottle and left in the glass to air out this wine redeemed itself. Not fruity enough for me, but good mouthfeel and decent finish. Good purple color.

Classic cab notes of blackberry, green pepper, and leather. A little acidic and over-oaked. Needs time to integrate. Try again in late 2024.

Wow! This wine is drinking beautifully … front to back starting with gourgous bouquet that Barbara pointed out from the moment I poured the glass. Followed by sweet blackberries and from front to back of tongue just wonderful full-bodied with refined tannins that are just Yummy!
Had first bottle over a year ago and wasn’t impressed so this has come a long way in the bottle! It’s going to be hard not to open a second bottle during the Eagles vs. Chiefs football game Monday night.

Shines at the 2 hour mark on the decanter. Nose: blackberry, leather, licorice, greenery. Palate: blackberry, leather, chewy tannins, medium + body, nice earthy tones. Long red fruit finish.

Update from previous note. This was a pop and pour at 65 degrees. Crazy fragrant, every glass. Black fruits and berries and dark cocoa. JD commented about notes of Cab Franc. Agree. Seemingly more Franc on board than 2%. Medium/full bodied and balanced. Smooth and mouth coating. Grippy, chalky tannins. Long long finish. Delicious and improving. Upped my score a point but may well deserve more.

This is a rating on potential - drinking 95 or so now but in 10 years this will be excellent. 2 hours open, rich red fruit, cream, milk chocolate, long finish. Sad that Ed is closing up shop - getting my hands on as much as I can get.

Probably would have scored higher with more air as it was getting plusher and integrating it all. Blueberry and red notes in a dense package. Flavorful finish. Slightly herbal but in a good way. Ed's wines have always been a great value.

Dark with violet nose. Black fruits, pencil lead, cigar box and chocolate. Full bodied and structured. Good acidity for a juicy steak. Grippy tannins and a long finish. Sourced from Ed's special Pritchard Hill vineyard, Atlas Peak AVA.

Drinking well with about 2 hours of air. Last bottle but could definitely use to age more as it really gains depth and smoothness with air.

Hadn’t touched my small stash of Black Fruit since I purchased it from the winery. Short decant and it seemed ready to go. Blue and black fruits, violets and cassis on the nose. Fairly rich, smooth, chalky finish with integrated tannins. Nice finish, Drinking well at this stage, considering the vintage. Well done, minds me of the 2014 Juliet.

My second bottle of Ed”s inaugural entry level wine at Cardano. This improved considerably with air, needed at least an hour in the glass to open up, and was best after two hours. Deep garnet in color, not overly expressive on the nose. Mostly dark blue fruits, some black cherries lace with a hint of chocolate, tobacco and violets. This is largely mineral driven, fruit is pushed slightly to the background, but it is balanced with good freshness. Best with food.

Violet nose. Black fruits, chocolate, tobacco. Full bodied and balanced with grainy tannins and a medium length finish. Not as complex as Ed's finer Cardano wines but very good QPR.

This wine is a robust yet balanced red wine with aromas of dark fruit and spice. On the palate, it has a silky smooth texture with hints of cherry, blackberry and clove that linger on the finish. It's bold yet elegant character make this the perfect choice for any occasion.

Pnp. Nose of violets. Black and blue fruits, chocolate, charcoal and plum. Full bodied, rich, balanced and smooth. Fine tannins and a long finish. Bolder than the Chappellet and Sequoia Grove consumed alongside it, but just as good.

Continues to slowly mature and improve. I think there is a lot of potential but doesn't put it all together for me yet. Clearly best on second day. Muscle still overwhelming the fruit for me. Good tension and lively finish. Will hold off on my last bottle for at least a year to see if I can catch the peak.

I siphoned a glass ala Coravin, the night before and micro-ox’d til dinner the next day. This has put on weight since my last bottle. blueberry preserves, violets, chocolate chip mint, spice and minerals. Nice depth, finish. Plays on the savory side of Napa, but the fruit satisfies. Unintentionally, I opened a 2018 beau vigne Juliet, which this wine is styled after, and comes from the same neighborhood. The Cardano was better, although the BV was PnP
