Thursday, October 19, 2000 Cork pulled in a rush to get to the table on a weeknight. The bright red of the wine showed a tad brickish on the edges. Nose of cherry and earth/moss. The first glass tasted of tangy cherries, but the acid level in the wine was distracting. By the second glass the wine had integrated a little better and was more enjoyable; the suppleness of the wine showed more with flavors of cherry and spice. Yet the acidity is unmistakable. A good, simple wine without any depth. A personal preference for lower acidity in a wine makes me prefer the D’Alba to the D’Asti. With marinated pork loin and beans almondine. 10/19/00.

Giant Wine Sale & Tasting 1/23/2016 (Cellar on Greene, Columbia, SC): Uncharacteristically, the palate does not come close to having a small fraction of the considerable cherry and plum we get on the nose. Still very adequate and downright tasty and also quite a bargain. A bit dry and lackluster on the mid palate. Mild tannins. Good but not great.

A pleasant, light, inoffensive Sunday night wine - we drank it with Gorgonzola Dolce, water biscuits, Keens, Montgomery. Fair to say it lost its authority a bit but perhaps it isn't built for cheese. Little in the way of a forthright structure and low on tannins. Perked up a bit once the cheese was removed. There's another bottle which I think we'll try with tuna or pasta con funghi.

Fits exactly as it was designed. Very soft and fruity approach. Minty red cherry and soft strawberry on the nose. Mild cherry color. Medium bodied at best. Mild tannins. Lots of lingering cherry on the roof of the mouth. Typical big Italian style acid. By the finish the fruit tends more toward red raspberry.

A mild, young wine. Dark and intense color. Interesting fruity nose. Low tannins, low to medium acidity. Fruity flavours. A reasonably food wine for the privé.

Light gold in color, this wine shows subtle green apple, Anjou pear and spices on the nose. The mouth feel brings refreshing but dry acidity and a fresh cut flower undertone. The finish is a little short but the acidity holds it together.

Purchased for $8US, this is an easy going Italian white that is recommended with light appetizers and/or simple salads.

We had this with pizza. It went perfectly. A really good, cheap wine to have paired with pizza. It had just enough bite and flavor to it to compliment the tomato sauce and the sausages and meats on the pizza. I probably would not serve this wine to try and impress somebody, but it is perfect with tomato-based Italian food such as meatballs, pizza, or calzones.

Pale green in color, this wine shows muted elements of white grapefruit, lemon, lime and white flowers on the nose. The mouth feel was medium in feel with brisk acidity and green apple tones. The finish was short and choppy.

Purchased for $8.50US, this is a simple Italian white with no hard edges other than the short finish. Drank on NY Eve with cheese after 4 hours of painting my new pad.

Garnet red color. Shared a bottle at a local italian joint. Pretty pedestrian. Had a decent nose with some ripe black cherry fruit and spice. The palate was a bit on the thin side, lacking much mid-palate, somewhat bitter tannins, average finish. Pretty meh even for a cheapy.
