Surprised by how alive this was. Still a lot of dark fruit, plum, black cherries, blackberry jam, and lifted herbal tones (mint, sage) & a little mineral/creosote thing. Still nearly full bodied on the palate, with all that dark fruit giving way to the herb & graphite finish. Med tans & acid persist but still in balance. Probably around an early window; room for that fruit to mellow out a bit.

Nice ! Excellent cork. At age 17 and a half, this wine is still very much alive and kicking. Dark colour showing little age. Nice mature nose - do not expect the finesse of a Grand Cru, but still very agreable. Fresh attack, ditto red fruity taste and a finish covered by dusty tannins - good tannins, but really a lot of them. Drink with hearty winter food, or wait longer. I have one bottle left, I'll let it sit another year or two. This is in fine form and will not die on you anytime soon.

Took time to open, but really rich, luscious, and ripe with balancing acidity. Long finish. Better than I remember from the last bottle. The first glass had bite, but with time it really softened. drink now but it'll last!

Now, two years later I can add: An impeccable colour, the gentle sweetness of a super ripe, but absoltely not overripe wine and a superb aftertaste; a mind boggling P/Q.

I've mentioned this at least 10 times in the past 2 years methinks.

This last bottle, like the rest, were of acceptable quality and this one, seemed better than most.

But, won't buy it again, even if it did "fit the bill"!

- Brick color with medium forming legs. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Round texture with a long finish - Drank without decanting with a pork roast dinner. A little tannic and dry at first, but then opened up. Very pleasant with the meal and enjoyed by our guests. Excellent value. Dark berry taste with a subtle earthiness underneath that does not dominate. Looking forward to dink my other bottles next year or so. It has not peaked.

As stated previously, it's a good wine, but it's time to drink up remaining bottles.

Messed up this earlier note.
This was like the rest, but now I know what to expect.
It's a good wine, but is on a quick descent to the salad bowl!

It's nice. But drink it! Before you can't!

Addendum - I left this in a decanter for 4 days. And therefore, tasted a glass everyday for 5 days. A wine that had age-worthiness will evolve to become somewhat more elegant and layered.
This sample, became old and oxidized between days 2 and 3. Alas, open it and drink it! Today. In one day!

Drinking this with vim and vigour.
It's really much better than when the first bottles were sipped
This soldier was more forthright. Not fruit forward, but had more grip and mouthfeel.
Very nice. Elegant.
Nothing to do with the steak and veggie pie, though no doubt that was fatty and salty enough to quell any remnants of tannic structure for sure!
But, best bottle in two cases. Getting closer to seeing why Dunnuck rates this a 90

Taking my own advice and drinking the remaining bottles asap.
These bottles have been relatively consistent in that the blend character has been similar. I know, big surprise!
But, a few smaller differences in the tannin resolved etc

I won't scribe much here. Jeb Dunnuck's notes convey everything needed.
He says "mostly Merlot with a splash of Cabernet Franc".
I've had a few bottles of this case over the past couple of years, and it seems it's changed, or that every bottle is different.
Certainly it's ageing in the waves associated with Merlot, so maybe that's the reason this bottle was better.

Still, there's l tannins to resolve but will definitely not long lived... 2028 max, and it's drinking well now... So why wait until it's on the down side of drinkable?
Pop the cork, and enjoy it now!

Same on the palate, juicy dark and some red berries as well as herbs and spices, some laurel, well dosed oak and good acidity and round tannin. After a few hours the tannin became more sticky. This certainly is a very beautiful wine. Already drinking nicely and certainly a future of 3 -5+ years. 89 - 90
