4/17/2014 - JonnyG Likes this wine: 95 pointsDoing Well by Doing Good: A Private Dinner for a Wonderful Cause (A Private Home in Bel Air): In a beautiful place, youthful but balanced. Spiced cherry on the nose, and maybe some forest floor notes. Concentrated layers of ripe, dark berries on the palate, and well-integrated oak. Firm grippiness on the lengthy finish. |

Wonderfully bright fruit on the palate and a very sexy texture. Love the energy and verve. More approachable than the 1990 we had a couple nights ago. Very long finish with fabulous grip. Best 98 red Burg I have had. |

Perfumed with enticing spice aromas, intense black fruit and a hint of cherry liqueur. Intense and incredibly powerful, this is slightly hedonistic and one dimensional now, but there is so much youthful energy and concentration that I'm confident nuance will emerge as this wine hits its peak stride, probably after 2025. I had the '93 recently, which might be a more exciting bottle of Burgundy today, but I think this 1990 will be better long-term. |

4/3/2014 - Pacalet Likes this wine: 93 pointsTasted with 93 Pommard and Savigny, clearly this is a notch above the other 2. With more stuffings, purer fruit, finer tannins and more classy, not as Beaune like as the other 2 and well kept bottles should be able to keep for much longer. |

4/3/2014 - Pacalet Likes this wine: 92 pointsMy last bottle, lovely Savigny les Beaune, overall performance very close to Pommard 93 but with slightly more complexity. The rather high acidity will preserve this wine longer. |

3/30/2014 - johnh1001 wrote: 92 pointsThis was so closed on day one that we corked it up after having one glass and saved the rest to see what it did on day two. And the answer was not much. Restrained nose of dark fruit, spice some mineral and a tar note. The palate was narrow, seemingly thin and focused and tight red and black fruit. Very nice energy and tension, but this needs time to unwind. I'm sure the score will improve. |

3/29/2014 - Seth Rosenberg Likes this wine: 93 pointsWonderful and forward nose: bright Leroy fruit - creamy strawberry and cherry, a little rough, sauvage - animal fur, spice, smoke. Very 88 on the palate - tart and sour cherry, strawberry, cranberry, spice - a little murky, lots of acid, stewy, a little sharp and volatile. This isn't quite in focus. Finish is tart cherry, spice and minerals. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5/20. |

3/28/2014 - Burgundy Al wrote: 95 pointsFriday Night Dinner with Friends (Chez Schmidt - Chicago IL): Open an hour+ before serving. Sensational perfume and spice aromatic start with moderately mature red fruit. Slightly more mature flavors of both red and black cherry. Acidity and elegant tannins are very well integrated. Silky, long finish with great textures. At a great place now. |

3/29/2014 - Pacalet Likes this wine: 93 pointsAfter 4 years, now much better integrated, candied fruit is gone replaced with lovely Leroy floral nose, ripe cherries and lots of spices. Very ripe and good depth for a 07, not thin at all, with good length and still very young and definitely can keep for the medium term. |

3/20/2014 - johnh1001 wrote: 92 points2004 Leroy Blind (NoMI Chicago): The surprise of the night, unfortunately to the negative. Initially this was closed and angular on the nose and palate. Slowly more sweet red and blue fruit emerged with a back drop of spice. No green-ness. Medium finish with nice grip. This was getting better but for 3 hours it lagged the others. |
