So immediate and joyful, this is Muscadet with panache. Wow!

Aromas of pineapple, crunchy white peach, pear, citrus, white flowers, sweet almond, a little seabreeze too... Juicy and succulent on the palate, beautiful silky texture, awesome weight, subtle saline grip... Finish has gorgeous notes of pineapple, crunchy pear and flowers, while subtle mouthwatering stony and fruit skin tones lend significant intrigue. So good, the overt fruitiness here is irresistible. This rocks.

Aromatically deep and rich for Muscadet, but that doesn't mean it's just billowing from the glass, there's still some searching required, there's mystery and mercury here...

Apple, quince, underripe pineapple, vague citrus (tangerine? clementine?), peppery broth, lettuce, narcissus, a little lanolin and sweet almond... Dense and textured on the palate, crisp and salty, subtle bitterness, like apple and pear skins, zesty and vaguely peppery... Persistent finish is salty and herbal, crunchy fruits linger as well, this has grip and sustain to spare. Oysters please!

Bigger and richer style of Muscadet. I really prefer the sharper, minerals and more acidic style.

Réduit à l'ouverture, il lui a fallu beaucoup d'air pour s'ouvrir. Notes de caramel et fleurs blanches avec une attaque franche. Le lendemain il était encore meilleur.

Fully ripe, but only just barely (in a good way). Looks to be from a little east of Nantes in Loire. Soft texture and understated soft tannins are balanced with ample acidity and fruit intensity. At Jeune et Jolie. Tech sheet: https://www.domaine-ecu.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/FT-MEPHISTO-US.pdf

Not a lot of pleasure with this bottle which was either off or had passed its pick. Nice nose, ripe, mainly on orchard fruits. The palate disappoints, heavy and quite flat. Not what I expect from a Muscadet. Consistent with my previous tasting note, I’m not optimistic for my last bottle.

Very interesting to see what's possible with melon de bourgogne. It needs time and air to open up started closed but after a few hours it began giving more. Very interesting and enticing nose of melon, honey, yeast and apple. The palate has great acidity, minerality, quite a bit of salinity, melon, yeast and some citrus. Long and pleasant finish. As said in the beginning it's quite shy so do give it enough time. Interested to see what some age would do to it.

Very exciting wine. Pale and clear yellow with a nose of nectarine, dandelion, and ripe pear. The palate has sharp but not overwhelming acidity, a smooth texture, and notes of lime, pear syrup, peach, a brininess, and even a spiciness like white pepper. Cool wine.

Vin de France Malbec that is made with Château Les Croisille's biodynamically farmed grapes sourced from Cahors. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts, macerated with the skins for 10 days, aged for 9 months in 150- and 600-liter amphorae, vinified and bottled unfined, unfiltered and without any SO2 additions. 11,5% alcohol, total SO2 <15 mg/l (of which <10 mg/l free). Bottle no. 525 of total 1280 bottles.

Youthful, somewhat hazy and slightly translucent purplish-red color. The nose feels wild, lifted and quite fruity with open, fruit-forward aromas of raspberries and fresh boysenberries, some cherry tones, a little bit of aromatic, Campari-like bretty spice, light floral tones, a hint of acetic VA and a touch of earth. The wine feels crunchy, somewhat lifted and sauvage on the palate with a medium body and quite youthful, fruit-forward flavors of raspberry marmalade, some boysenberry tones, a little bit of tart cranberry, light blueberry tones, bretty hints of smoke and barnyard funk and a touch of glue. The wine is not only moderately high in acidity, but there's also a tiniest bit of tingly CO2 on the tongue. The light, gently grippy tannins bring in a little bit of firmness to the palate. The finish is wild, dry and crunchy with a moderately long aftertaste of tart lingonberries, some cranberry tones, a little bit of zesty brett character, light brambly raspberry notes, a lifted hint of nail polish BA and a touch of leathery funk.

I know this wine turns horribly mousy - and fast. The three previous times I've had this wine have ended up the wine turning mousy in a time ranging from a wee bit over an hour to just 15 to 20 minutes. That's why this wine was drunk pretty much immediately after it was opened, so it never got a chance to turn mousy. And you know what? The wine was surprisingly enjoyable for such a natty effort! Unlike the two previous times, in which the wine started to feel like "yeah, this is going to get mousy soon", this wine was more like the one I had in 2019, when the wine was pretty nice for a little while after it was opened. And this time we didn't give it a chance to get worse. I suggest you don't, either. Priced somewhat according to its quality at 15€.

Matris 2020 Vin de France - Domaine de l’Ecu
100% Chenin (Amphore)

Had a bit of the blanc/noir feel or maybe it was a bit of skin contact. Had that soft funky edge but well in measure and not dominating the wine. The wine is soft and round , touch of a Viognier aromatics but none of the exotics, aromatic though and the guess here was modern Malagousia from north Greece made with a bit of skin contact. Good wine . 90

A hardcore natural wine that not even the most hipster somms would be able to love. Feels like partially fermented juice with tons of byproduct still in in. Which I guess it is. Some redeeming notes of freshly pressed red currant, mushrooms and wet autumn leaves are overwhelmed by the funk.

Barnyard stench out of control. As CFRANCES33 put it, "Very reductive and stinky with a manure quality" has it right on the nose. There's fruit and maybe spice on the other side of it but it certainly did not "blow off" after "twenty minutes." After well over 90 minutes I poured my glass down the drain.
But I corked up the bottle instead of pitching it. Next day I poured another glass, and it was a very different experience. The fecal bouquet was gone, just a trifle of "countryside funk," and instead there were typical pinot noir fruit aromas and flavors, raspberry and a bit of plum. Drank it with fennel/onion tarte tatin followed by semi-hard sheep cheese and cheddar.
So if you have any of this, open it at least a day before drinking it.

Mephisto is a demon featured in German folklore. He originally appeared in literature as the demon in the Faust legend and has since become a stock character appearing in other works of arts and popular culture.

Deep ruby in the glass with violet hues. Not decanted, but definitely needed some air. Big nose of black berry fruit, some stems, some espresso notes. Full-bodied with ripe tannins and high acidity. Not overly extracted, but has some really good power. Wonderful varietal expression as well. Could've used a longer finish, but all in all, nice wine.
