Notes after an hour open. Blend of 2012, 2013, 2014. Disgorged 06/21.
Light golden color with a narrow and lively mousse. Ample aromas of fruit cocktail and warm cornbread. Flavors of primarily bruised apples and Lemonheads. Nice and dry, but it tastes a bit flabby and soft on acidity tonight. For the price, serviceable but not memorable.

Drank as the second champagne on New Year’s Eve 2023, after opening with Laurent Perrier. A clean and weighty expression of Pinot noir with minerality in the finish. Pleased with the uniqueness.

Great bargain champagne. I love this stuff because it has strong, presistent, tiny bubbles. We drank it on two consecutive evening with similar remarks. It tastes of a champagne that is much more costly and well regarded. It's dry and somewhat fruity at the same time. I'm very happy we have some more of this in the cellar. (FYI disgorged 6/2021, blend of 2012-2014)

This wasn’t a great showing. Nutty and caramelized almost to the point of oxidation (premox?). I tend to find these characteristics much more in Blanc de Blanc wines. It’s kind of off-putting and overwhelms the earthy soil elements I prefer in BsN’s. I hope my last bottles show better. Far from a value, in fact, a bit of a poor value right now

The dosage was really apparent, making this feel more like dry rather than brut, but it was still a nice wine. Went decently well with Buffalo wings, aided by the extra sweetness. Strawberries were the dominant note here. Didn't get much complexity out of it.

Same, 07/2020 disg't as my last bottle. Getting more of a Pinot Meunier/bruised apple note this time and, perhaps due to having some very nice bubbles lately, I found this lacking in the way of backbone or structure to support my earlier enthusiasm. Still a well made, crowd-pleasing embibe for a party. It was also perfectly suitable to our homemade cheeseburgers tonight. Main takeaway: food helps this a lot.

Light golden color. Nose is very honeyed and somewhat sweet with honeydew, caramel, ripe orchard fruit, and some salinity. Palate is dry but a little cloyed and almost artificially sweetened with peach, honey, touch of minerality and reduction, and honey roasted peanuts.

It's simple and even though technically dry, it has this somewhat artificial sweetness that's not well controlled, it lacks freshness and generally just isn't firing on all cylinders.

Lot 144. 2011-2012-2013 blend. Disg'd 7/2020. Dosage 6g/l
Compared to my prior bottles that were 2011 base, 1/2014 disg., this performed in perfect alignment with my old notes. Lovely brut-level sweetness makes it an excellent match for sushi or spicy chicken dishes. Great value.

Coming back to this after a while, and a new batch for me, disgorged 11/2021.

This seems very consistent from batch to batch. As always it benefits from maybe 20 minutes of air and not being too cold. Then there are nutty and toasty notes on the nose; the palate is, obviously, very dry but this isn't an austere champagne - there's plenty of interest: notes of apples, pears, yeast (almost Marmite-esque initially); and the finish is rather long and cleansing.

All in all a very decent champagne. For me it does benefit from pairing with at least some canapés rather than drinking on its own.

The QPR at ~US$36 is quite good.

Something is holding this champagne back.
Nose is a little funky. But still great, tight bubbles and mouthful with hints of apricot and peach.

100% PN. Based on 2011, Disg. 01/2014, 9.5 g/l dosage. Don't know why I thought this showed so sweet last time. On the nose: sweet apple, honey, apple pie, soft marzipan. On the palate: very good acidity, more sweet apple, marzipan, meyer lemon and good density. Much better showing than the last bottle. Apparently this just needed a few years of bottle age to settle. Lovely now.

Full of baked apple and hints of oxidation, I didn't love it but its certainly a style. Bubbles were not as strong or fine as I would have liked and there was a certain bitterness in the finish. Not horrible but for $45, not great either.
