Soft and mild almost lacking any sense of presence . Not sure what they aimed to deliver here but this is for those looking for a very light drink. Maybe good partner for a spritz too. 85

A little gamey. There was some bright fruit right off the bat but it went away quickly and the rest, was, well, just ok. Maybe not a wine for ageing and 5 years is too long? I get that Chile is trying reeeaaaly hard to find their own "signature grape" like rivals "Argentinamalbecwine" but somehow I don't think that this is the answer....(at least not this wine).

Brought to a blind tasting and drank after N.V. Miguel Torres País Estelado Brut Rosé. Medium red translucent color. Floral on the nose, juicy, fresh and light. Others tasting blind thought it might be a Mencia or a Gamay from Fleury.

My first Pais, strawberry aroma, leaning a little jammy, quite rustic and spiced. Goes down smooth at first, followed by a slight sandiness from the tannins. Very light body, with a cinnamon-stick finish. Just pleasant country wine (as the name might imply), and decidedly Grenache-adjacent.

Very Good(-)
I did like this and it worked well with some simple spicy soyrizo tacos. Yes, I wrote that. I ate it, too. It's fine. And '86' from me is no dismissal, it's in the "Very Good" range, it's just that I like my País more untamed, feral. Really, the winemakers should be congratulated for making such a clean, but still representative wine. But I was in the mood for a little more funk.

A bit opulent and sweet on the nose, as all Chilean reds, yet it’s savoury at the same time. Rose hips, cooked strawberries, litchies, petrol, a bit of herbs – quite a lot going on the nose. It’s like the warm climate version of Hungarian kadarka. Juicy, smooth and light on its feet, beautifully held together by great, gently firm tannins. Pure, balanced and so enjoyable. 89-90 points. Highly recommended. Drink now.

Served to accompany beef steak.

I've rarely tasted the pais grape so wasn't sure what to expect. Light cherry colour, vanilla. Initially very light on the palate, it develops within an hour to display depth and balance.

Lovely yellow in the glass with a light nose of lemon zest, pear, and orange peel. The palate is well rounded with good acidity, a medium long finish, and notes of green apple, lemon, a pleasant slight hint of nutty oxidation, and a dry minerality. A nice refreshing wine that goes great with fish cakes.

Light ruby. Strawberry on the nose.
In the mouth, black cherry and lime, cranberry acidity on entry. Touch of streaky green, smokey bacon, and soap. A light tannic grip, with mineral entering the mid and lingering the finish. Very quickly oxidized while open and on day 2 was undrinkable.

Lovely rendering of the Pais grape - unfiltered and unoaked (I think clay amphorae?) this has all that natural wine freshness, energy and spring to it. Great nose with a lot of red berries and some sour ale notes that are very nice. On the palate it has a broader repertoire with some sweetness to balance the apple cider vinegar esters. Really nice bottle!

Recommended by a favorite wine shop and they did not disappoint. Made in an international style, maybe California meets South America, with a tangy, berry-driven fruit flavor with hints of cocoa and espresso.

100% Semillon from vines planted in 1940’s in Maule Secano Interior (30 km from the ocean). Granite soil. Handpicked. Whole bunch vertical press. Barrel fermented with native yeasts in French oak. Aged 70% in foudre and 30% in French oak barrels for 12 months. 3.16 PH.
Lightest in color of all the Semillon. So salty with flinty minerality on the nose and palate with citrus. A bit toasty. After an hour, there's more pear/green apple fruit on the palate. I would put this closest in style to the Tyrrell’s we had not too long ago, but it's just more in your face with the minerality and fruit while Tyrrell’s is more subtle and elegant. Both lean towards a lighter body. My favorite Chilean Semillon so far.

Deep garnet

A completely new wine for me... I tasted the pais many times from them, but those Carmenere are of real interest, typical Maule...

It requires opening and aeration, as it is quite vegetal first, but spices, pepper, black fruit, black plum, currant, MIOA

The palate is dry, Alcohol is high, Full Bodied wine, with M+ tannins, yet to absorbed , Acidity is M+ and helps balancing a quite powerful wine with juicy tannins. Finish is med +

The wine is VG and juts lacks a bit of complexity to be considered outstanding, but it shows a really good core, with a solid body and tannic structure lifted by a very fruity and peppery character. It will certainly hold for a while and then fully open to a much smoother and delicate side.

First Chilean wine, highly enjoyable and excellent value! Pretty interesting nose, a little tight at first with a lot of darker fruits, violets, opens up with a little green. Smells like there could be a small amount of stem inclusion, but it doesn't come through so much on the palate.

Medium tannins and acidity on the palate, light-medium body as well. Plenty of fruits, and flowers again.

Paired with empanadas, highly enjoyable and would gladly buy regularly at the price.

100 year old dry-farmed vines. Hand-harvested. Traditional methods used like zaranda mats to destem and press the grapes. Native yeasts. The nose is expressive with fruity and floral notes. The palate is light and fairly simple though. Overall, a Pais that leans towards Beaujolais in style. Feels like they must add some sulfur because it’s less rustic and funky than some traditionally made Pais from Chile.
