Beautiful earthy notes with dark fruit and some mineral notes in the background. The plump, silky, medium-bodied palate is in the perfect spot right now. Delicious.

Paired with a broiled NY Steak, roasted potatoes, and mixed salad after a day of skiing in spring snow. Dark purple-crimson color with heavy wood and wild flowers on the nose. The XL palate brought deep, dark blue fruit with red fruit highlights, savory tobacco, and elusive green pepper notes into a tannic wall of a finish. This is a monster wine and needs another 2+ years to integrate and develop (unlike most 2009 Bordeaux). Drink 2026-2034. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 90.

Decided to pop another after the flawed one, just because I was mad about the first one being corked. Thank Dionysius this one wasn't. But, it needed 3 hours to really start waking up, 6 hours to really sing. Graphite, leather, dark dried fruit, a bit of licorice, lovely tannins, nice lift, and a short tongue-tingling finish.

Fading dark cloudy muddy brown-purple; lovely stewed plum notes, some subtle spice notes with tanned leather, tomato skin, spicy dark chocolate. Very cool stuff, a modern style but balanced, and actually excellent with a rich ricotta ravioli and red meat sauce--used as a substitute for a Brunello and did really well. S&L at new house.

Young on PnP. Sweet fruit with a bit too much oak on the nose. Lotta stuffing on the palette. Several hours later, getting sorta fanfreakintastic on the nose and palette. Verg balanced with the feel and acid. Still a lot going on, maybe better with even more time.

Tasted along 2007 vintage, enjoyed this vintage quite a bit more, feels more concentrated, with finer structure and balance. A blend of 83% Merlot and 17% CF. Deep ruby colour. Intense aroma of plums, toast, blackberries, herbs, chocolate, strawberries, hint of cedar. Medium+ body, concentrated and powerful with firm structure and high and ripe fine tannins, toasty black and red fruit flavours, long finish.

Peaking Saint Emilion, aged in new oak, made from a blend of 83% Merlot and 17% CF. Deep garnet colour. Medium+ intensity aroma of prunes, old cupboard, dry earth, leather, dried strawberries, wild strawberries. Medium+ body, feels elegant and well matured with balanced flavours, acidity and finely grained high tannins. Long finish with notes of vanilla and touch smoky prunes. Fully developed and should be enjoyed now.

This bottle was super-oaky. Tasted like a middling Cali cab. In all fairness, it was better the second night (after being covered in Argon). Will try another bottle soon, and decant it for a while...

80% Merlot & 20% Cab Franc. Perfumed floral and juicy red fruit nose with near perfect balance of body, acidity, fruit, and tannin. Will probably pick up more tertiary notes with age, but it’s drinking perfectly fresh right now.

Very ripe blueberries and menthol on the nose, still feels a bit closed, lots of minerality in the mouth that overpowers the fruit, noticed some herbal notes on the finish day 1 but tannins and cedar overpowered those notes on day 2. Hides the alcohol really well.

This seems to be firmly in the zone as it delivered the best showing yet of 3 bottles consumed this year. Still deep, dark and rich with a full-bodied mouthful of juicy dark fruit but even more Bordeaux typicity and better overall harmony. Really quite plush and satisfying with a long finish. Delicious.

Opened and drank a glass.
Then a recorked it and forgot about it for a week because of travel.
After a week, it's still surprisingly unoxidized and drinking well.
Raspberry and blueberry on the nose with a hint of Hubba Bubba bubblegum and licorice+char on the far back end.
Tannins are still grabby on the tongue.

I enjoyed this bottle more than my last two encounters with the wine. With a wealth of rich, dark fruit, it came across as a bit less brooding and with more harmony and precision. More Bordeaux-like. While still a large-scale offering, it showed greater delineation and civility. Certainly enjoyable now but possessing the structure for further cellaring and upside potential.

Showing much better in the bottle than it did from the barrel, the wine is concentrated,, deep, long, plush and polished. The wealth of sweet, red fruits on the palate is made more interesting by addition of the wines salty tannins. Complex, rich, fresh and mineral driven, you find significant energy in the herb-tinged, spicy, chalky, peppery, red berry finish. Drink from 2025-2043.

Medium garnet. Dark-fruited, with background scents of boot polish and burning embers. Medium-bodied with some mouth watering acidity and a mineral driven finish. Not at all over-ripe or overpowering and with enough complexity to keep it interesting. I would hazard a guess that this will improve further in the short-term and last for another decade.

Nose of black fruit, licorice, milk chocolate, allspice, wet gravel. and saddle leather, same on the palate, licorice almost makes for a creamy taste, auction bottle for a new producer to me, interesting, fairly fruit forward, almost mouth filling fruit, almost elegant, peaks in 2 years but enjoyable now with a 3 hour decant, has a hint of very soft tannins on the medium/long finish. Photo uploaded-interesting label.

With smoke, espresso, black and red pit fruits you also find a distinctive salty edge to the tannins here. This wine has a lot to offer. There is enough concentration and freshness found in its long finish that you can keep busy tasting this over the next two decades. The blend was made from 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc.
