2018 Rodrigue Molyneaux Sangiovese

Livermore Valley more

Heady earth and dried fruit bouquet of this dusty and rustic wine makes for a great representation of an old-world Sangiovese made in a new-world style.

Food pairings: Enjoy with homemade pasta and a porcini and pork ragu, followed by a raisin and chocolate torte. Chicken w/roasted root vegetables tossed w/olive oil, lemon, capers. Angel hair pasta w/ratatouille sauce. chicken piccata.

Very nice wine. Notes of light fruit with a touch mint. Consumed with Angel hair pasta and tomato sauce.

Awesome work smoked meats. Red ripe fruit on the palate. Good wine! Just wish they were more consistent.

Smelled and tasted a bit oxidized. Otherwise, had strong acidity and lots of tart cherry flavors. Went well with a red-sauce pasta dish.

90 pts: brilliant, bright red color, full-on Sangiovese nose, luscious and passionate but tempered on the palette with an inviting finish that asks for, "more." Well-done, RM!

Good medium to full body with surprisingly bright acids backing up medium tannins. Not fruity as much as leathery with cocoa and spice notes. Maybe a little graham cracker/oak aroma.

Strong notes of mint, eucalyptus, and cedar. Much better than the last bottle from five months ago. Probably at its prime now. Best within 15-45 minutes upon opening, but still drinking alright on the next day. Have this with a dry rub steak!

Flavors of Eucalyptus and mint, and just a tad of toasty oak in a savory Cabernet that's possibly slightly past its prime, unless you enjoy aged Bordeauxs that is, which I do. Perfect with charred meat or chimichanga sauce. 14.7% ABV. 87-88

Smells of pineapple (pina colada!) and tastes like a dry banana-pineapple juice. Medium + acidity, short, buttery finish. Not sure what to pair this with other than a butter-drenched fish. Perhaps a kiwi flan? Or a green salad with pears and walnuts!

I liked this a lot. Acidic enough but not as acidic as a typical Italian. Nice fruit both red and citrus. Just had a 3 ounce pour but was pretty happy.

Nose - sherry, whiskey, whiskey barrel, earthy, rich mature red wine smell, something I expect from Bordeaux.
Mouth - also whiskey. Whiskey infused red fruit. Like a whiskey sour. Wild. Pretty interesting.

Excellent varietal tipicity on the nose and palate, with delicate flavors and a buttery mouthfeel. Extremely quaffable on its own when served at room temperature, and a great pair to soft, delicate dishes like a flaky white fish with a side of buttery corn. 13.3% ABV.

Typical cab garnet color. Fruit forward style with strong vanilla, fruit and anise on the nose, followed by the same on the palate. I found it be not be balanced, with shortish finish.

This is a pinot blanc - looks like a chard in terms of pale golden color. I picked up aromas of almond and faint hint of apple. Single note of the palate with apple and a bit of smoke. Not a complex wine, but enjoyed it more when paired with pork tenderloin.
