Red-orange color. Dry and a bit acidic. Bit raspberry cherry like. Ok overall, decent QPR. Kinda of an everyday wine

Medium-deep reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, spices, anise, coffee, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with spices, cocoa/coffee, herbs & minerals. Lingering dry finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging at which time it may merit a higher score (93+).

Ready to drink but will keep on evolving a bit. A good package with dark and "sweet" cherry but miss a bit depth. Nice Brunello

Served blind. Fred's red for the night. Medium garnet in the glass.

Nose of herbs, red fruit and a bit of potting soil.

Palate is of lighter weight than most tonight with a sight uptick in acidity backing it all up. Very nice.....made for food.

Flower Day - Wine level to bottom of neck. Cork sound with very little ingress of wine. Decanted off a small amount of very fine sediment then decanted back into the cleaned bottle. Tasted in a Pinot Noir glass as I prefer them for developed Italian wines. Core is still opaque and garnet in colour and extends almost to the edge of the wine. There is a fairly thin slightly orange coloured rim. Nose is stunning! Red fruit, dried red fruit, spice, a little forest floor and some lightly lifted florals (violets?). I just nose this all night! On the palate there’s spice, red fruit, a hint of Brett (but just enough for complexity), licorice and some saltiness. The finish is florals with spice, red fruit (both ripe and dried) and a bit of funk. This bottle has held up well!

Paler Ruby core, fading to a very slightly brown hue. Med viscosity.
On the nose the wine had a med intensity, with ripe to overripe fruits, such as: cherries, black cherries, cranberries. It had lovely secondary aromas of cigar box, dark chocolate, vanilla. It's only 6 years old now, but already had some dried fruit characters, which were lovely.
Overall balance is great, complexity is alright, and the length is a good medium.
Good price/quality IMO.

I think this is just the standard Ugolforte with the custom Swiss Guard (Guardia Svizzera Pontificia) label. Quite delicious, pinnacle Brunello, black tea, balsa, sweet cherry, cedar, just wonderfully sweet, sour, spicy and dry with gorgeously pure and soaring aromatics. It has that perfect Brunello austerity. Lovely.

Now owned and run by Poggio di Sotto, so quality should be very high. Even tasted at this young age, the potential is apparent.

Red cherries, cedarwood, smoke - definite oak influence here - cinnamon, allspice, bitter herbs and plastic on the nose. Intensity of both flavors and aromas is medium. Overall rounded, though it gets bitter on the finish.

Medium + body, medium acid, medium tannin. Hold for at least 5 more years; but has a lot of potential.

First time with San Giorgio (ColleMassari) Brunello di Montalcino 2016 but a happy introduction to the producer. This had the warm and friendly embrace of the South side Castelnuove dell’Abate. Cherries, roses, orange, tar, cedar wood and not least mint. Nice acidity to balance what is in essence a really lovely Brunello. Not a singular wine but a very delicious Sangiovede, from Montalcino and nowhere else!

Very good, moderately priced BdM that hits all the right notes. Better after a few days corked and left on counter - so probably best to decant if you plan to drink in one sitting. Tasting experience consistent with prior note.

Tuscany (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Meaty, savoury, slightly gamey, a little red fruit, spice, tiny touch of herbaceousness. Juicy, dense, structured, savoury, meaty, chewy drying tannins tied up the palate, non-intrusive alcohol warmth. Woof.

Part of a Tuscany blind tasting:

"Nose of red and pink fruits with some nice florality. High tone cherries and pink flowers on the palate with great acid and tannin. The structure gives in tension and lifts the palate making this a lighter, more elegant Brunello. Really like the structure here. 93pts"

Overall pretty basic but well done Brunello. This is definitely a Brunello to buy at this price point and it will get better with age although it appears you can drink this now with a lot of air.

"Floral. Tight fruits but definitely darker and ripe. Maybe black cherry. Ripe cherries, little bit dusty, ripe. Has some oak too. Seems like CCR or CCRGS. Maybe Brunello. Guessing caparzo Brunello 2016. 90-91, relatively simple."

This was my wine and I slow ox'd it for 7 hours. It still needed another 2 hours at dinner to shed even more fat and show some character. 91 but needs more time.
