The nose was more restrained than most of the ‘11s I had tasted, showing floral perfumes with small red berries and hints of menthol. It came to life on the palate, with sweet cherry, spice and herbs in a finessed and feminine performance with an excellent balance of fine tannin and zesty acidity. The finish showed cranberry and plum, which slowly turned to inner floral tones and hints of spice. It will be interesting to see if this evolves over the coming months into a more expressive wine. Until then…

Fruity and lighter than some Brunellos, good nose, medium finish. It was more acidic than the deeper, heavier brunellos, but still a worthwhile wine.

Garnet edges. Showing more age than expected. Dried cherry and leather. Lots of acid but little tannin. An enjoyable wine but not worth another bottle.

Nice ruby colour with an amber rim. Medium plus intensity and medium complexity nose, with dark red fruits (esp. cherry) dominating underlying spice and earth (with just a hint of tar). Refreshing acidity with medium body and nicely supportive tannins. Flavours of cherry and pomegranate fruit, with a nice intensity at mid-palate that transitions to mild oak spice and subtle earth, with a strong, medium length finish of smokey spice. Not overly complex, but a nice wine, and a good price. Nice drinking on its own, or with mildly flavoured red pastas dishes or pizza.

Bouquet of ripe cherry, slight vanilla smell, forest floor. I think this one needs more time. The vanilla and color are two indicators. The tannins are a bit too much too. It's still a good wine but I'd let this sit a while. I'm sure my rating will change with time.

A strong wine that can slug it out with bolder creamy foods. Red to Garnet in color with clear brown edges. Nose is black cherry and tobacco. Lots of acid, tannin, but doubtful of aging potential... has a definite note of astringent green tannins that almost give it a slight resinous quality. Seems like this would get worse over time as skin tannins fade. Would drink over the next few years.

Violet color with a brown hue. Powerful bouquet of fruits, tannins and alcohol, darkberries in the aroma. The wine itself fullbodied with an "Syrah-like" attack coupled by a semi-complex tannic "Cabernet-like" midpalate and short finish. Balance a bit to the tannic side for me but the wife did not agree on this (she found it excellent balanced). A strong performance from this super tuscan. Cabernet-Syrah will never be my blend but I think i'll consider buying this again. Drink in the next few years

A very good wine, but I wouldn't put it in the $40+ category. Good Sangiovese and Brunello characteristics, but I think you can find just as good a wine for 1/2 - 2/3 the price. Definitely let breath for an hour before drinking. Opens up as time goes on.

Somewhat surprised by the comments and score here, 87.5 at the time of this note. This is a serious wine, with an elegant bouquet that put my mind to Nebbiolo, especially warm vintage La Morra Barolo or a $50 plus traditionally styled Barbaresco. Tremendous and balanced acids, light tannins, tastes like it smells. Rewarding finish, interesting experience. The most Piemonte-like BdM I recall tasting. A lovely drop!

Concentrated bouquet with autumn impressions, sweet licorice and caramel. On the palate an elegant wine with good fresh acidity, red fruits, some chocolate and soft tannin. Nice wine. Ready now and the next 4+ years.

Light garnet. Fresh red cherry, cinnsmon, mint, floral and herbal scents. Medium-bodied with very soft tannins, obvious sweetness, medium fruit concentration, balancing acidity and medium to short aftertaste of cherry-flavored candy. A pleasent and simple wine to drink soon.

An appealing blend of near equal parts Pinot Grigio and Garganega. This wine features an inviting pear element throughout. It shows great acid, interesting texture, and a gripping limestone finish. 87-88. A bargain at $9.

– The nose was beautiful and floral with ripe fruits, showing perfumed cherry and dusty sweet spice with chalky minerals; along with the slightest hint of oak from a deft hand. On the palate, it showed silky textures with ripe red berries and inner floral tones in a focused, clean, yet mouthfilling effort. The finish was staying, showing hints of structure. The San Giorgio Brunello was simply a gorgeous, complete wine.

En bra och balanserad Brunello. Friska körsbär, lakrits och lite rökiga toner. Väldigt mjukt och bjussigt vin, för att vara en Brunello, med hyfsat lång och fin eftersmak. Men inget att spara i källaren i 10 år

Palate was fresh dark fruit, spice. Good tannins, but the heat at the end was too much. I think that it will improve with time.
