Stanleys Restaurant, Dublin, "Natural Wine Tasting South Africa" (Stanleys, Dublin, Ireland): (Tasted Blind) A deep red-black colour; fragrant fresh nose that has plum, blackberry, rusty nail and herbal accents. An engaging wine that keeps the fragrance throughout, it contains an energetic acidity and a touch of saline qualities that is encapsulated in a fairly robust wine with a gentle warming 14% alcohol. A captivating, full-flavoured wine. 90+

Still drinking well, although hasn’t improved.
Deep ruby.
Ripe black fruits, earth, liquorice, forest floor nose & palate.
Quite rich, full bodied, medium finish.

Much lighter on the palate thane Rhône whites but with a number of similar flavors. Loved the interplay between the fruit and bitter almond flavors.

I seem to have forgotten about this wine not having tasted for over three years.
Now medium gold with waxy, petrol, tropical fruit nose.
Similar palate with marmalade, honey and a hint of citrus.
This has evolved quite nicely and is quite a complex wine.
Struggling with longevity and note RP recommended drinking it 2020-22.
Given the development/evolution over the last three years I think that it should be fine for at least another 3/4 years but not wine or blend that I’m familiar with.

Wine Cellar - Undiscovered Gems from France, Spain, USA and beyond (Wine Cellar): (Tasted Blind) A mid to deep ruby graduating to a bricking rim. Intense nose showcasing floral notes (touch garrigue or wild scrubland), tobacco, crushed cherries, torn sage and more. A sumptuous, succulent entry that is rich and deep with fine-grained chocolate edged textures that are filled with wet tobacco, damson plum and mincemeat (leaning to moist fruit cake), tinned cherries, and a whole lot more! Firm tannins and a lively to crisp acidity support the fruit and give it a long, exciting finish. Very smart, this is an impressive wine.
A blend of 31 Syrah and 69% (Touriga Nacional, Tinta Amarela, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre).

First bottle of this tasted like prune juice. Second bottle was amazing. Dry and leathery like the floor of an old wine cellar. Doesn't go with sushi though.

A blend of Mourvèdre (50%), Syrah (25%) and Trincadeira (25%). Made with a portion of juice bled off (saignée) from a batch of red wine. Fermented and aged in old oak barrels. The producer calls this "pale red wine", but I guess saignée rosé is appropriate as well. 13,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Translucent, somewhat evolved and quite luminous pomegranate or red onion color with a pale rim. Complex, dark-toned nose with aromas of ripe cherries, some woody notes of savory oak spice, a little bit of something I'd describe as "Pinosity" (making me think of Burgundy immediately), light notes of pipe tobacco, a hint of exotic spice and a touch of juicy black raspberry. The wine is ripe, textural and even somewhat meaty on the palate with a medium body and complex flavors of savory spices and tobacco, some wild strawberry tones, a little bit of ripe black raspberry, light umami notes of raw meat, a developed hint of wizened dark plums and a subtly bretty touch of leathery phenolic character. The wine is high in acidity with no tannins to speak of. The finish is ripe, long and juicy with quite dry flavors of strawberries and black raspberries, some leathery notes, a little bit of tobacco, light meaty notes of umami, a hint of phenolic spice and a woody touch of savory wood spice.

Tasting this wine, it's perfectly understandable why the producers prefers to call this a "pale red wine" rather than a rosé - even if it is made like a saignée rosé, it is surprisingly substantial and complex effort in its genre. There's lot of substance, complexity and depth of flavor here; even if the wine is starting to show some signs of age, it is still obviously on its way up and most likely will keep on improving for years more. It was pretty impossible to guess the wine correctly as it really didn't remind me of any style of wine - it certainly had some Pinosity, but Pinot Noir was very quickly ruled out. At that point basically everybody was more or less lost. Superb stuff, highly recommended for people who like their rosés structured and full of character.

Deep ruby.
Predominately black fruits with some earth on the nose.
Smooth, full bodied, slightly closed even after two hours decanting.
Plums, raisins, figs, cedar palate.
Good wine which I think might improve further over the next couple of years.
Blend of syrah, Mourvèdre, trincadeira & touriga national, 14% abv.

Alc: 13.5%; Deep purple-black, delicate notes of sour black cherry and fresh fruits along with demerara sugar and that floral element of Touriga.
The palate entry is packed with fresh fruit yet ripe port-y (but not overripe) aligned fruit with blackcurrant pastille, damson, softened prunes and savoury notes. Some cut fig sprinkled in muscovado sugar lurks in the background. There is also a floral lift to the mid-palate with lively acid and a dry sandy texture. It is a delicious wine with flesh, complexity, and intriguing as it opened up further. The finish morphs to gritty tannins and cherry pip sourness once again. I enjoyed the combination of fresh fruit and dry savoury tannins.

Deep garnet red
Savoury perfumed bouquet (Touriga) with tilled soil, toasted spices, umami, pencil shavings and some dark fruits.
Medium+ bodied, there is good intensity in the mid-palate, a lively acidity that leads to a grippy yet sweet tannin. The flavours seem a little feral with a soy note that followed by spice, leather and some bitter (85%) chocolate. The finish is dry and quite long but feels sinewy and the fresh acidity adds a sappiness to make the drier chocolate tannins much fresher. At 13.5% the alcohol seems well-integrated, and the wine is showing nicely. However, it needs drinking as some tertiary elements protrude along with the feral character. Not quite as good as last time
