4/7/2023 - rmalloy Likes this wine: 92 pointsI generally have a negative feeling about “natural wines,” but this cortese-based wine is tastier and more interesting than any Gavi I’ve tried. Really complex flavors, from sea salt to dried apricot to butterscotch. Moderate tannins add structure. It’s really good. |

This is one of these wines, where the VA is in perfect balance, fretting up the ripe fruits. |

4/28/2022 - PSPatrick wrote: 91 points100% Sauvignon Blanc. Macerated on the skins for 2 months and aged on the lees in stainless steel for 2 years. Deep orange golden colour. Ripe citrus, cider, ripe quince, apricot, nuts, and salted caramel (but without any sweetness), with lively acidity and very good length. Finishes tannic and bone dry. Full, funky, and bretty, with some VA. Complex, very energetic, and very different. A captivating wine! |

4/4/2021 - Connecticut Wino Likes this wine: 90 pointsLively and robust at this age - has years ahead of it. Upon opening, this was indeed tightly wound, with earthy, tarry notes predominating. After decanting and with a few hours of air, the tart cherry fruit came to life and things came into balance. Wonderful with rich beef stew. |

6/27/2020 - ericindc Likes this wine: 91 pointsno real brett on this bottle. On opening was mostly primary with strong fruit and moderate tannins. Solid acidity. After about 2 hrs, this opened up and sweet red fruit, earth, mushroom and leather came through and it really mellowed out. Quite nice. |

5/26/2020 - NYC_Maenad Likes this wine: NRI forgot having bought these back in 2016, and came across them the other day by accident. We don't drink a lot of natural or orange wine, so the combination had me wondering a bit what I was thinking when I bought them. Probably remembering that orange wine is sometimes the only thing other than sherry that will work with certain foods. Anyway, this poured as expected - cloudy and orange - but the nose was really interesting and appealing from the get go. No mouse at all, no dirt, only a little funk and a lot of cinnamon and dried orange peel. On first sipping, the palate had good acidity, some generous weight through the mid-palate, but a totally fall-off-a-cliff finish. Fortunately, that abrupt ending filled in with a little air and some food. As anticipated, the wine handled the bitter salad beautifully, and no surprise it was good with roast chicken. "Cinnamon Tang with a touch of creamsickle" was Jonathan's assessment. We both quite enjoyed it. |

5/8/2020 - NYC_Maenad Does not like this wine: NRForgot we had a few of these in the cellar, truly don't remember buying them. Opened this to go with a late night pizza indiscretion, but found it so brett laden that we couldn't drink more than a couple of sips. Don't know if there would have been much fruit there even without the brett. I'll try another one soon to see what's up here, but this bottle was not enjoyable. |

4/25/2020 - PSPatrick wrote: 90 pointsFrom Monferrato, Piedmont. After long maceration on the skins the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts. The winery applies minimal use of sulfur dioxide and excludes the use of any other additives. The wine is bottled unfiltered. |

11/22/2019 - JWG wrote: 91 pointsAt first I thought it may be a bummer, because at opening it had a lot (lot) of funk in the nose. Reminds me of some of the Paolo Bea wines from a couple of decades ago that lived and breathed barnyard funk. But the funk blew off after about 15-20 min. and the result was delicious. Palate is big and dark, tobacco, earth, balsamic. Nose ended up being simple but with a strong yet ethereal presence without a lot of definition. Only had part of the bottle, so will add notes tomorrow if suitable. |

3/9/2019 - jwebtx wrote: NRforceberry pretty much nailed it in his/her TN. I like many orange wines, but dumped this one down the drain. Brett, VA, and bruised apples proved way too much funk for me. Only difference I noted was my bottle was a more advanced amber color than described (shading toward rust). |
