Really nice and in a very good place now. An elegant Hermitage with balanced power and minerality beneath.

Great drinking window right now with nice fruit and lots of salami. Perfect with the Easter lamb.

Heater week; 3/8/2024-3/17/2024 (Chicago, IL): Savoury with a nice briny quality on the nose and palate, but it feels like there's a bit of prickliness from oak on the palate. Still, plenty of red fruit on the palate and nose that really brings this wine to life.

Dark ruby. Medium intense nose of dark plum, overripe blackcurrant, blueberries, some raspberries, some forrest floor, violets, garrigue.

Palate similar. Juicy, quite fresh acidity. Has a herbal crunch that pairs well with a slightly spiced up reindeer stew, "finnbiff". Should have some more years in it if given good cellaring.

Medium + body, medium acidity, light + tannins.

At $35 from TheBottleList this was a nice value play. Not a whole lot of structure to last more than two days open but very enjoyable with a homemade smash burger.

A great cellar defender.

From Coravin,

Cassis, integrated oak, smoky nose with spices and pepper, graphite, but still very much dominated by fruit scents

Palate is very tight and sharp, fantastic acidity lifting the wine, with long spicy and mouth watering tannins, upfront tannins and still a bit dry, very long finish...

It is quite stunning for a 21, it will certainly hold well for 8/10 years more, 94/95 potential

Deep color, smokey nose. Intense bouquet of dark fruit, cassis, tobacco, vanilla. Strong and mouthfilling, dominant. Very balanced and silky finish with polished tannins. Ripe but only at the beginning of drinking window. Many more years ahead.

Dark, dark purple in color.
Blueberries, woodchips, oak, floral notes on the nose
Blackberries, tobacco, pepper with medium acidity, spicy tannins. it had a little more sweetness than like or expected, but overall, it was a nice wine. My first Crozes-Hermitage

This wine has completely turned 180 degree from 10 years ago from being flat and bland (yes i did pour the remain bottle into the sink) to become a well-aged wine with aromatics ( like those well-aged great Barolo or Bordeaux wines with good secondary notes), the texture is still full body, and, most impressively, the flavor profile is still rich infused with red fruit notes!

As cliche as it can get, patience bears fruit! After 20 years, there is no tertiary notes. The secondary notes compliment the wine flavor profile very well. It's the wealth of red fruit notes has kept the wine interesting and enjoyable.

It's peak and drink it NOW.

Rating: <90 10 years ago; today 95 + 1 (bonus for retaining fruit flavor)

Spot on! Great CH for a spott-styver (low price). Classic Syrah markers from Rhône and matched great with vegetarian lasagna!

That kind of Wow bottle plunging you immediately into what is on offer. Sweet nose of ripe plums, vanilla, cedar, portwine, menthol, sweet spices. Already a pleasure to drink, but to further improve over the coming 5 years.

Opened about 45min and drink from Pinot glass. Medium body and very well balanced. Juicy black currant, a little pepper and spice and silky, soft tannins. Excellent wine, especially for the price.

The previous taster mentioned "light", I will say "quiet". Good mature hermitage that should be drunk now based on the bottle I had.
We had most of the bottle for lunch and left 1-2 glasses for the evening. By then, the wine had turned bitter and I threw it down the sink

Savoury, herbal, earthy cool stones, smoky, meaty, tight grippy drying tannin profile, tart and stewed fruits, complex and interesting, as it opened up, more meaty and charcuterie, leather elements came through, next day more balanced,

Light, transparent. Thyme, black olives, raspberry, pepper, nutmeg, pine shoots on the nose. Juicy scent, but not lacking depth. Fine tannins, lots of herbs, olives and raspberry. Balanced.

Love the nose, like a fine perfume. Good stuff.

Will visit the next bottle in 5 to 6 years.

Intriguing and inviting nose of honeysuckle, almond, and nutmeg Tasty and full, with peach pit, dilute marzipan, honey, and a hint of ginger spreading across the tongue. This 70 marsanne 30 rousanne blend declared the typicity of its Northern Rhone roots, called like a siren to be sipped again, and tasted delicious with beet and apple salad, squash croquettes, and grilled octopus. Very fresh for its age; no rough edges.

Surprisingly fruity; blackberry nose, very pleasant to sniff. Un-syrah-like on the palate, with comments of New World cabernet and merlot. Morphed in and out of Rhonedom over the two hour session, alongside (and possibly upstaged by) fellow outlander Texier CDR-Brèzéme, and accompanying braised pork, wild mushroom rigatoni, sweetish fried chicken, and local pan-seared fluke with Brussels sprouts and squash; @ 5 Ocean Long Beach NY. In the end, a very tasty, fresh, and thought-provoking wine.

Nose: Smoked meat, olives, dark fruit. Herbal, rosemary and thyme.
Taste: Tingling sensation. Maceration carbonique? Full bodied, high acidity and well balanced. Dark berries, licorice, some spice but not too much.

Delicious! Classic northern rhone as it should be

Hazy deposit on the bottle and solids. Deep red.
Nose of ripe red fruits. Red plum.
Round soft but full flavour. Medium length. Perhaps the best bottle came last. 🙂
