I am happy to be drinking some of the last vintages from this maker before they morphed into the making of their Monterrey and California offerings. On the other hand, sad to be drinking the last of their Napa offerings. Everything changes, but not always for the better! |

There’s a little bit of a root beer/melted licorice thing going on as well. Full-bodied with flavors of black currant, cassis, chocolate and plum with a slightly sappy, resinous quality on the finish. Haven’t had anything from Franciscan in a long while and for $16/btl at local retailers, this is a decent little bottle of cabernet. 88+ pts. |
