8/26/2021 - BeachMtnWineGuy wrote: 90 pointsA previous commenter suggested it was “heavier”. Not a sure if he meant that in a negative way or not. It is a bit thicker/deeper than most Barbara’s you’ll come across, but the fruit is wonderful, a darker cherry. Very little tannin, real nice acid after the first few minutes. Throw in the great price and this is really good all around. |

8/1/2021 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 90 pointsSo, it’s not really Zin. The petit Sirah is such a dominating taste that it’s 15% is more like 30%+ for some other variety. In this regard, it’s more like a full on blend. But I do like petit syrah, so it’s all good. A good choice to fill out a case. |

2018 Limerick Lane Zinfandel Banfield VineyardRussian River Valley more |
1/15/2021 - BeachMtnWineGuy wrote: 93 pointsSo, I think this is the same banfield vineyard as the Arista banfield 2017 zin ( best, if not most unique, zin I’ve ever had ). Having trouble confirming that they are both Martinelli Rd (could there be two banfield vineyards in Sonoma?). However, they surely must be the same given similar taste profile. I know this has been opened young, but was too curious. Zero briary zin-ness to this. A touch thin, surely due to its youth. A bit too much acidity, that also will disappear in a couple years. Lighter fruit flavors, nothing dark, definitely light and not too spicy for a zin. My understanding is that banfield vineyard was owned by arista and has been ripped out and replanted with Pinot. Hope I’m wrong. Saving remaining bottles till 2023 and beyond. |

11/24/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy wrote: 93 pointsNot terribly complex in that it offered only one thing : light cherry flavors, and dang it did that well. Consistent flavor profile start to finish, really great bright flavors with perfect acidity. And I’ve been down on the Renatus bottling from past few years, too. |

5/31/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy wrote: 93 pointsWell, I have lots of pinot rose from great Pinot producers I’m lucky enough to be part of. And then there’s this, my favorite. It’s not a puckering-dry rose like you often find ( not my preference ). One could call it a super-light Pinot. Great fruit on the nose and pallette. |

The nose on the second day here is incredible. Alas, no more, or the next one I would truly open and let sit a day. The nose is simply unbelievable. |

3/15/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 92 pointsI love the very extracted sweetness of mollydooker wines, and this is perhaps the most so. Hits like a freight train. Finish last forever, and the nose is typical of mollydooker wines. |

2/16/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 88 pointsI like it but not great (tasted better at the winery, don’t they all). Thought it was thin, not very deep flavors. Unfortunately, as a 2016, doubt it’s a time thing either. I could easily get similar at half the price point. 2 people found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

2/6/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 94 pointsExcellent, and so young. Got 6 at the winery during a tasting last year, so dipped in. None of that briary stuff that’s so precedent in Zins. Smooth balances flavors, not highly acidic so great mouthfeel, finish is great very long. I particularly sensed a little cocoa-ish thing that surprised the heck out of me, but i kept looking for with every sip, very unique. |

2/2/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 91 pointsBalance of flavors reflects the balance of the blend; one does not dominate. Needs a couple more years for the fruit to soften and be the focal point of the wine. Just a little early right now, but even with that, very very good, bodes well for a couple years from now. |

1/25/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 95 pointsI see a 91-ish rating community-wide, but for me, this is incredible. The fruit is excellent, none of that tar/tobacco/espresso variety. The nose is beautiful, the mouthfeel is super-smooth, fruit a bit lush but not like an overly extracted Australian Shiraz. The finish is awesome, good length. Incredible. |

1/20/2020 - BeachMtnWineGuy Likes this wine: 90 pointsTechnically a Zin cause of 76%, but the 18% petite Syrah has quite an impact given its boldness. Don’t sense much of the Barbera (I do love barbera, too). Nose is not briary like many Zins. Dark fruits for sure, with tar, maybe some espresso type notes. If I was told this was something other than Zin (Syrah) I could believe it. Regardless, very good. A couple more years might soften the tannins I’m getting. |
