6/19/2021 - riberafan Likes this wine: 95 pointsExcellent example of Cabernet from oakville. Many layers of dark fruit, smooth but with a lot of structure. Muted nose just out of the cellar but rounded out nicely after 10 minutes and continued to evolve over the hour. |

3/21/2009 - riberafan wrote: 91 pointsout of the bottle it was sharp, intense on the palate and a little closed on the nose. over dinner it began to mellow if you can call it that....chewy, big, complex cab. it wants you to only take a tiny sip at a time to fully appreciate its power. an hour passed and the nose became delicous, very smooth but still feels like it has years ahead of it to mellow into something even more subtle and yet powerful. sweet but dry, cassis and blackberry with a hint of vanilla and fine tannins make this a wine i wish i had more of.....last bottle. |

12/4/2008 - riberafan wrote: 93 pointsWOW!! i had heard alot about this wine and had been trying to ge tmy hands on the 2004 to no avail. finally settled on the 2006. this wine is dense, from the nose to the palate. nose has dark toasted chocolate with a touch of liquorice. its complex and had me sniffing it over and over to make heads or tails of all the difference nuanced flavors that came through. the berry snuck through. your first sip makes you realize you have something special, its big, it hedonistic, its new world, its in your face and it begs you to take another sip. if you like Alto Moncayo, you will love this wine. the QPR is fantastic. lay it down for a couple years if you can keep your hands off it, it will be further rewarded as the already silky tannins mellow further. |

12/3/2008 - riberafan wrote: 91 pointscame out of the wine cellar and decanted. at 55F it was tight as a drum, very little nose and after a sip was not impressed. and if anything i started to feel disappointed. when we started to serve it at dinner 1.5 hrs later....wow, major difference, not so much from the nose perspective, but on the palate it was smooth, round, mouth filling and delicious with the lamb chops being served. it needs more time in the bottle to show its full potential. |

11/25/2008 - riberafan wrote: 89 pointsfruit forward on the initial draw, smooth on the palate with just the right amount of acidity, the nose is common with some oak and cherries, so that is not the story. the finish is dry and a little flat compared to what you expect mid-taste. overall a pleasant wine that i would buy again but not my favorite at this price point. |
