The palate shows soft tannins and medium acidity, with flavors of sweet cherry, jammy raspberries. There's some volatile acidity, but it's not too bad. Lots of spicy black pepper, and flavors that remind me of stewed sweet bell peppers. All in all, for a Kentucky wine, I didn't think this was all that weird. |

1/5/2019 - cellarkitty Likes this wine: 91 pointsNose burning pepper not experienced since I over gulped a 6.5 ounce coke as a five year old - I like it! Probably waited a bit too long on this one, though perhaps time added a little complexity missing in earlier tastings I saw. A venerable 11 year old with decent body and good long finish. Unexpected in every way which is a nice departure. |

It drank quite well, with notes of blackberry, currant and cherry (but no chocolate this time). It was a good pairing with our DeGiornio supreme pizza, with pork sausage, fennel and herbs added. Not as good with our chicken pot pie. |

Sue really enjoyed this wine. We paid $24 / bottle and good value at that price point. (Vs. $55 retail). Drink now or maybe age. |

2/8/2016 - Barry Raterink Likes this wine: 93 pointsWhat a great wine - pure Pinot Noir on the nose, with fruit and graphite notes. On the palate the wine is well balanced, the fruit is prominent, great acidity and the finish is long and lingering. |

10/24/2015 - Chris@77 wrote: 87 pointsDark ruby, medium-full body, fruity aroma. Starts with ample acidity that fades relatively fast, slightly flabby. Indistinct fruit flavors without differentiated flavor elements. Not a complex wine. Pleasant but disappointing for the $ paid (less than $30 OK but a better alternative is the 2013 RR generic bottling - very good). Looked for the Soul Patch - ironically cheaper - sounded much more interesting but sold out. No repeat. Not obvious this will improve with time. |

5/30/2015 - Edclr Likes this wine: 91 pointsA bit stemmy, but good finish, nice mouthfeel, fruit still primary, the longer it's open the better it gets. The green from the stems seems to dissipate. Dont notice the alcohol. |

10/17/2013 - Edclr wrote: 86 pointsMy last of 3 bottles, and apparently did not have the time or inclination to make a note on the other 2. This is a very tutti fruitti pinot. While it has decent length, nice mouthfeel, and very bright fruit, its not what one wants in a pinot based wine. No acidity, very flabby, good party wine for sipping. Had it against a 2010 Penner Ash Pinot, which had great tension along with good fruit and good finish. Very striking contrast. |
