A friend shared this with us with dinner at our place. Really nice and harmonious RRV Pinot. True RRV character and this is in a great spot right now. Excellent mouthfeel, depth, flavor profile without going over the top (as one finds in RRV quite often).

Delicious wine. Notes of cherry, red fruit, chocolate. Delicious on its own and with the herbal, rack of lamb.

Delicious wine. Red fruit, sweet. Delicious with our DiGiornio pizza with 3 meats, pork sausage, arugula and spices.

This was really good, don’t wait to enjoy this as I think we are at tail end of its life - on opening was a bit funky but after 20-30 minutes hit its stride

I saw this on a BTG list in Cincinnati and had to try it. Nose shows beef drippings, cherry pie, tobacco. The palate shows soft tannins and medium acidity, with flavors of sweet cherry, jammy raspberries. There's some volatile acidity, but it's not too bad. Lots of spicy black pepper, and flavors that remind me of stewed sweet bell peppers. All in all, for a Kentucky wine, I didn't think this was all that weird.

Popped and poured with dinner (baked Alsakan salmon w/Miso glaze and coleslaw). Spicy red fruit on the palate and red fruit on the nose. An enjoyable pairing with salmon from my annual trip to Ketchikan to go salmon fishing.

Nose burning pepper not experienced since I over gulped a 6.5 ounce coke as a five year old - I like it! Probably waited a bit too long on this one, though perhaps time added a little complexity missing in earlier tastings I saw. A venerable 11 year old with decent body and good long finish. Unexpected in every way which is a nice departure.

A welcome wine for Sue and to thank her for her travels for Christmas. Lovely fruit - currant, cherry and blackberry -- with herbs and spice on the finish.

Drinking well now but has time, too. Sadly, our last bottle :(

I opened this to reward Sue for a long drive from MD on Thanksgiving Eve. It drank quite well, with notes of blackberry, currant and cherry (but no chocolate this time). It was a good pairing with our DeGiornio supreme pizza, with pork sausage, fennel and herbs added. Not as good with our chicken pot pie.

Drink now or age.

We paid $24 plus shipping. Good value at that price. (Winery retail is $55)

5/31/2017 - 92 - We had the rest of the bottle (Coravin from the night before) and it drank similarly, with notes of blackberry, currents, cherries and some chocolate. I think I under-rated the wine last night

5/30/2017 - 91 - Blackberry, currant, cherry and some notes of dark chocolate. A tasty, fruit-forward wine. Not complicated but drinking well now. Sue really enjoyed this wine. We paid $24 / bottle and good value at that price point. (Vs. $55 retail). Drink now or maybe age.

What a great wine - pure Pinot Noir on the nose, with fruit and graphite notes. On the palate the wine is well balanced, the fruit is prominent, great acidity and the finish is long and lingering.

Dark ruby, medium-full body, fruity aroma. Starts with ample acidity that fades relatively fast, slightly flabby. Indistinct fruit flavors without differentiated flavor elements. Not a complex wine. Pleasant but disappointing for the $ paid (less than $30 OK but a better alternative is the 2013 RR generic bottling - very good). Looked for the Soul Patch - ironically cheaper - sounded much more interesting but sold out. No repeat. Not obvious this will improve with time.

A bit stemmy, but good finish, nice mouthfeel, fruit still primary, the longer it's open the better it gets. The green from the stems seems to dissipate. Dont notice the alcohol.

I've been a fan of Davis Family Pinot (and Cab) for a number of years now. I think the style is a bit bigger than is ideal, but somehow it comes across as really delicious and well balanced. This was no exception.

My last of 3 bottles, and apparently did not have the time or inclination to make a note on the other 2. This is a very tutti fruitti pinot. While it has decent length, nice mouthfeel, and very bright fruit, its not what one wants in a pinot based wine. No acidity, very flabby, good party wine for sipping. Had it against a 2010 Penner Ash Pinot, which had great tension along with good fruit and good finish. Very striking contrast.
