One of the better showings thus far. Clean, cool pinot fruit. Nice earthly undertones. Not a big wine, but a great example of a humble burgundy wine.

I had higher expectations for this bottling given the year and vineyard. Definitely not what I would call good QPR. There was a noticeable amount of heat on night one. Refrigerated for two days and revisiting half the bottle tonight. Nice red fruits as other have mentioned with some mushroom scents peaking out. No rush to drink but I don't see this improving. I'll stick with LSJ and CSJ.

Another nice bottle of this, showing slightly better than my first bottle with more consistent, pervasive fruit throughout the palate, supporting the aged tertiary notes. Tart, dark red fruit with an attractive rose petal note towards the backend and finish. The middle showed that trademark estournelles rusty iron pipe note that gave way to traces of orange zest. Less noticeable was brambly dark berry fruit, which showed itself aromatically in glimpses on the nose and palate. This is elegant and light while maintaining good body. Grippy tannins are still evident in the middle and finish and, while there was still sufficient fruit in this bottle to offset them, these seem here to stay.

Very much like my last bottle; fully mature with red fruit, mature dusty, earthy, mushroom, and other tertiary notes all coming together on the nose and palate. Very light on its feet, still quite fresh and vibrant though the tannin does stick out a bit on the finish.

Salil's Last Supper: Red berries, cherries, mushroom, savory notes. Very silky palate. Quite enjoyable, but the acid, savory and earthy notes, and slightly drying tannin are more in the forefront, as the fruit is fading. Wine started to fade after a few hours. Drink now.

Ruby in the glass. Sour cherry and earth. Beautiful tart dark berries and mineral. Already intoxicating but young and tight with good stuffing for 5 or 10 years from now.

Aromatically gorgeous, this treat surprised with its still rich black cherry fruit, spice and cloves, sweet cappuccino, rounded, concentrated and balanced mouthfeel, and delicious, caressing, elegant finish. Did not decant and this wine still held all the glory of a great aged Grand Cru.

Nice aromas of red fruit, almonds, and earth. Might have been subtlety oxidized...but it didn't distract from the palate. Somewhat one-noted on the palate with mostly red fruit. Very nice.

An almost perfect wine (for me... I don't get to drink much burgundy). Deep black fruit, earth mushrooms and more earth on the nose, intense minerality and long finish. Elegant and integrated.

Drinking beautifully right now. Gentle red fruited flavours, earth, and more savoury leathery and mushroom elements all coming together very seamlessly on a graceful, lightweight frame. It's very polished with the tannin almost fully resolved and a beautiful texture on the palate that makes it all too easy to drink.

Medi brick. Cherry, spice. Very light body, surprising tannin (fairly light but still present), sour cherry acid. Good, not great. Very nice. Nose started to fade after two hours or so.

This is so interesting to compare to the ’06 I had almost exactly 2 years ago. There are so many similarities; obviously this being a much more mature version and showing a bit of old wine funk and aged leather/ barnyard notes. This shows tart red fruit with a pretty rose petal/ floral note as well as strong earthy/ brushy tones and distant remnants of Gevrey blackberry on the backside. There’s also some trademark Gevrey meatiness on the nose, but that is a less compelling feature. What strikes me here is the presence of a prominent citrusy/ orange zest/ rusted iron note that also comes across on the backside. This was noticeable in the more recent (2006) version, though much more in the background in that example. Finishes medium and shows some soy and spice notes. This is by no means tired, but perhaps slowing down a bit, with the fruit having lost some ground to the secondary notes and structural components. Thanks to Salil for the heads up on this one.

I was shocked, thinking the bottle would be dead. No, it was alive, and enticing. Think about savory spices, a bit of dark fruit, and tongue coating flavors, and perfumed aromas.
