Medium colour, and somewhat savoury at the moment, with notes of green capsicum, white pepper and sage. Not much primary fruit, with light sour tannins and cutting acidity - might be going through a bit of a dumb phase. Opened up a little after two hours and went well with roast duck breast and sour cherries.

2011 was a very wet year in Victoria, and as a result the wine is very lean compared to other Mount Mary vintages. Still a great chard, but don't expect anything too buttery from this vintage. Drink up I reckon - and serve in a big glass to get as much from the wine as possible.

8/8/2017 3:34:00 PM - Hey mate. With regard to your comment on my posting...........The variety Red Bordeaux Blend implies any blend using any or all of the five traditional Bordeaux varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. As such, this is used worldwide, whether for the wines of Bordeaux, California, etc. and yes even Australia.
5/12/2013 8:19:00 PM - Hi Rupert, thanks for your message.
I missed the Andrew Caillard Grange masterclass, unfortunately...must have slipped the radar! More than happy to catch up at Wine-Ark. I usually stand with a group of about 5 blokes in the middle and take my notes in a black moleskine - I'll look out for you - we usually head off for supper afterwards to a BYO (everyone brings something along) and I'm sure you'd be more than welcome to join us.
That's a pretty fantastic cellar you've got there yourself - truth to be told it's the cellar I aspire to! I see you have the same problem/solution that I have - lots of wine stuck in the UK...I say solution because it certainly stops it getting drunk too soon!
cheers,
chatters
