9/26/2018 - dsgris Likes this wine: 89 pointsLite peach color with a light melon nose. Bone dry, melon fruit with stony mineral, a touch of bitter the recedes quickly, leaving light acid to balance the mineral in the fruit. |

9/16/2018 - dsgris Likes this wine: 88 pointsLight peach color, nose of Kiwi and gooseberry. Dry mineral, melon rind, fairly reserved. Starting to open up with some air and the fruit is starting to show for some balance to the minerality dominant at the beginning. |

8/2/2017 - dsgris Likes this wine: 88 pointsDark purple, nose of black currants. Dry with some tart blackberry, earthy mineral, cane tannins need some time to mellow and integrate with the slightly jammy fruit which dominates at present. A little bitter on the finish. Comes together in a decent food wine. |

3/16/2017 - dsgris wrote: 88 pointsDark purple ruby with a ripe berry nose. Very primary now and needs time to integrate. Some tart chewy tannins on the front, black fruit dominated by the acid and tannins. Definitely needs food, worked with some corned beef brisket for Paddy's Day diner, would be good with pizza. Hold a bit more to mello. |

9/6/2016 - dsgris Likes this wine: 88 pointsDark ruby with lilac nose. Dry tannins with some astringent acid, medium tart berries and works better with food, smoked ham hock and bean medley tonight. Restrained on the fruit with the acid on the fore. |

3/8/2015 - dsgris Likes this wine: 92 pointsDark ruby with some funk on the nose. Dry funky on the PnP with some good initial acid, medium fruit, cherries with stone fruit tannins. Needs a little air to come together. Still has some bright fruit going, but the bitter needs to subside, 87 PnP. There is hope with time, progressing nicely, the bright fruit saves the day. Leather notes add some complexity to the funky ripe cherry fruit, chewy chaulky tannins on the finish. A couple days later, silky and smooth, lightly funky with soft and bold fruit. Good stuff. Very good on the next night. Nice balance of acid, fruit and tannins. Terrific QPR from Garagiste. |

2/18/2015 - dsgris Likes this wine: 92 pointsDark ruby, funky ripe cherry nose. Dry, rich fruit, cherries with some funky, bitter elements. Some bright acid combined with barnyard and leather, roast beef with iodine. Drinking very well with a good balance of acid, fruit and tannins finishing with a light funky element on the PnP. Tart funky fruit best describes the next night. Drinking very well, keeps getting better with age, some nutty spice adding some interest, but starting to wane. Best on the second night with the bright fruit and acid. |

2/13/2015 - dsgris wrote: 91 pointsDark ruby, cherries with olives on the nose. Drying lightly tart tannins with fruit in the background, cherries with some stone fruit bitter, mostly dominated by the tannins on the PnP 89 Pts. Needs more acid, but the tannins will carry for several more years. Improved overnight with better balance, bold fruit & body, tannins have calmed & lost most of the bitter. Nicely balanced in favor of the cherry fruit over the acids and tannins. Smooth mouthfeel with some heet, showing iodine with the chewy tannins. |

12/23/2014 - dsgris Likes this wine: 90 pointsDark garnet, barnyard funky nose. Open overnight. Fruity on the front with some ripe fruit sweetness. Medium body and fruit, cherries and blackcurrants, some jamminess. A little acid would help balance the fruit, some stone fruit tannins on the finish helps, but overall not really what I like in a wine, others with a fruit forward preference may differ. Checking my notes, I liked this a lot more 4 years ago, but then I am more in the AFWE camp now and not so easily impressed by fruit forward wines. Some air time in the glass has resulted in a well integrated wine showing more earthy notes and less jamminess. |

8/5/2014 - dsgris wrote: NRMedium ruby, brambles on the nose. Lightly dry with some light acids on the PnP. Ripe cherries with stone fruit tannins. Most of the French wines I have drunk lately have what I call bretty, toward light bitter tannins. A bit like a hoppy IPA. Soft mouthfeel with Some residual sweetness on the finish. |

6/8/2014 - dsgris Likes this wine: 91 pointsVery dark ruby, some iodine on the nose. Dry with some tart bitter tannins, chalky fruit, lemons. Need to wait a day, not in balance at all, 82 PnP. Overnight on the counter has resulted in marked improvement, bold cherry pit fruit, good body with tart tannins. Still on the raw side with VA prominent. It needs another night, 88 pts. Reading my previous notes, it is taking longer to come good than several years ago. Are we in a doub stage or what? Another night, nice nose with some orange, complex flavors of candied cherries, orange glaze with bacon bits, some tart candied tannins on the finish. Jolly Rancher Cherry with a nutty overtone. Still could us a few more years. |

4/16/2014 - dsgris Likes this wine: 92 pointsDark ruby, slightly funky olive, cherry nose. Dry, stemmy tannins, bold fruit and body, getting the olive notes along with cherries, dusty bitter chocolate tannins on the finish. Needs to mellow a bit. Plenty of aging potential. Another night, a little sweetness showing with some stemmy tannins along with some bitter notes. Further glass time has done wonders for the balance of fruit and tannins. This just keeps getting better, big and balanced with the tannins providing the anchor. If you can score more for $20, go for it! |

11/20/2012 - dsgris Likes this wine: 91 pointsDark ruby, ripe cherry nose. Tart tannins, medium fruit and body, still a little harsh on the PnP with 87 pts, some bitter stone fruits masking the brighter fruits that pop in and out of the flavors, tannins dominate the finish. With some air, harshness almost gone, the bitter has left with some nice fruit, red plums. Day two, very good integration into a well balanced smooth wine with light fruit, light acid and smooth tannins on the finish. A couple more days and this wine has entered the zone, just lovely. Bold fruit, ripe cherries. Well balanced with acid and tannins, mouth coating mouthfeel. Iodine tannin finish. |
