Good not great. Simple and ready. Unless this wine has a hidden backbone it won't improve with more than another year or two of age.

I opened the bottle and something seemed a little off. So I poured a glass and took a whiff. I got the smell of stewed tomatoes. So then I took a sip. Barely any fruit and it was a hot alcoholic mess. At first I thought that perhaps the bottle was past it's prime. I have always heard people say that the Kosta Browne wines can't stand the test of time. I then remembered I had a 2004 Sonoma Coast like a month ago and it was great! I did a little research online and concluded that the bottle was definitely flawed. It wasn't corked but I think it was cooked. I remember the cork had receded into the bottle a little bit, which I believe if it was cooked it would have popped out the top. Not really sure what to make of this but we were obviously all bummed out.

This was put together nicely and got even better as we drank it. Had some nice black cherry and cola flavors that just went over your palate like a wave. This was much better than the Russian River Valley bottle I had two years ago and I think the additional age did it some good.

This 2005 wasn't as fresh as it was a year or two ago but it was still very good. A lighter body, it had a wonderful nose of dried cherry, cinnamon, and cola. Th palate was equally impressive with some licorice, sour cherry and other red fruits. Has a fantastic 25-30 second finish as well. I definitely prefer these younger but I have to say that they also do age.

Surprisingly spicy, silky smooth and sublimely stupendous...this is a serious wine that has so much going for it. A pleasure to drink, this is what wine should be all about. Yum, yum, yum.

Dark. Purplish red in color. Blackberry, ripe plum and dark cherry on the nose. Palate follows with boysenberry, dark cherry and spices. Excellent sweet fruit, mouthfilling and extremekly long finish. Incredible richness, balance and overall sructure.

Deep dark fruit and forest-y spice predominate in this big-framed pinot. It could use more bottle age but already has that soft smooth texture that Kosta Browne seems to have mastered.

Tasting much better now with about 8 months in the bottle from the last one I opened - much more in balance - a silky feminine pinot- floral and cherry flavors - hint of spice - with a nice finish - should continue to get better with more time.

I continue to appreciate the KB touch. A little underripe, very well contructed, focused. Worth the money? Debatable, but a well made wine that never fails to generate conversation around the table.

This was a bottle that we picked up at KB when we stumbled upon this winery on a trip to Sonoma in 05. Nancy's bithday today and KB is her favorite wine. Had with rack of lamb (not a typical PN pairing, but this holds up).

See previous note. Tannins have mellowed, much more expressive. Jammy, berry fruit with spicy oak. Decanted for 1 hour.

Decanted an hour or so and drank over the next 3. Nose of cherries and vanilla. Add some spice and lots of oak to the taste and thats that. Terrific mouth feel leads to light tannins and low acidity on finish. Enjoyable for sure but
not sure if it will integrate further, I hope it will.

Coming into its own, with the totally appealing KB Pinot profile of black cherries and red vines. Smoky sweet oak, warm spices (cinnamon, clove?) and great balance make these wines the "Richebourg" of California for me. I hope for more complexity, but they are so delicious, why wait?
