This is drinking absolutely beautifully right now. Great nose and long finish that keeps on pumping out flavors of plum, berries and sweet tobacco. Still plenty of life and acidity. At first opening this was completely disjointed, tannic, little fruit coming through, but after 2 hours of decant was really quite good. Tannins smoothed out, fruit came out. Definitely more Bordeauxish than new world. I wouldn't drink this without pairing with food -- it really seems to come alive much more than many other wines. I think it needs a few more years. Approachable now after 1 to 3 hours of decanting. |
