2003 Benziger Family Winery Tribute

Sonoma Mountain Red Bordeaux Blend more

Brill popped this at his crib to celebrate his 31st. Very nice.
Darker mountain fruit. Black plum, some iron minerals, cedar and pencil lead.
Palate is balanced but robust showing a touch of heat. This is drinking nicely now and probably won't improve much with any more age.
Brill's had this for eight years and it was enjoyable opening it tonight with such close friends.

Brad opened this as the third bottle for Bears Monday Night Football at his place.
Big ripe black and dark cherry nose, come cassis, leather and dark roast espresso.
A nice mouth feel but not the silky texture I remember from other times tasted. Still really nice wine but not a 93 or 94 pointer.

West Coast Tasting (Binny's South Loop - Chicago, IL): Big and rich. Dark berries, rock, wood. There's some tannic structure that's appealing.
Moderate complex dark finish with some chocolate, vanilla and spice. Showing nicely.
I think my standards have only somewhat shifted since my first tastings of Tribute bottlings at Wildfire.

Super creamy creme de cassis. Very much inline with other Tributes I've tasted. Maybe a little more heat on the finish, but still elegant and very well made. Dark fruit, leather, tobacco and some nice spice qualities.
Moderate complex finish, moderate high alcohol, tannins and alcohol. Quite nice, but not up to par with other Tributes. Maybe I just have higher expectations at this point in the game.

Dark plummy blue fruit. Lots of figs, mocha and dark liquered berries.
Palate is medium full with less viscocity than I remembered. This is still a solid wine showing nice acid, but some obstructive heat as well. Finish is moderate complex and long. Nice, but seems less impressive in terms of fruit and overall deliciousness when compared to last bottle.

Awesome. Such a great biodynamic wine.
The palate is long and rich. Typical Tribute. Lush deep red berries. Nice acidity on the finish.
Velvety and opulent. Classic Sonoma powerhouse Cabernet blend.

Taste at the WF OB Benziger Wine Dinner.
Awesome as the '03. Just a little less concentration of fruit.
Still excellent aromas of dark red berries, mocha, espresso and cigar box.
The palate is soft and lingering with flavors of leather and light smoke.
A 30 second finish supports the medium to full bodied biodynamic red blend.
Still one of my overall favorites.

Wildfire Wine Ambassador Kobrand Dinner (Ditka's Restaurant - Oak Brook, IL): Kobrand Wine Dinner @ Ditka's in Oakbrook.
Once again, I LOVE THIS WINE!
This is once again a beautiful example of a lush, vibrant, balanced bordeaux blend.
Vibrant mountain fruit, casis, and rose petals on the nose.
Displays a great finish showing fine grain tannins.
Chewy finish with nutmeg and tobacco on the palate.
Treat yourself to a bottle of this vino!!!

Awesome blockbuster of a wine!
One of the best bordeaux blends to date.
Deep crimson color...almost black.
Excellent color extraction.
Nose of black stone fruit, tobacco, mocha, leather, and casis.
Extraordinary mouth feel with a 30 second finish.
Lasts, and lasts.
Enjoyed over Prime NY Strip with a mushroom reduction.
A true Cali powerhouse.
