  • This opaque garnet wine is a blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. It was presented to our tasting group as a "ringer" at a single-blind Right Bank Bordeaux tasting. Effusive of plum, allspice, dark chocolate, vanilla and dried herbs on the nose, it follows with similar flavors which reside in a medium-bodied, freshly acidic frame. The tannins are medium in weight and very supple, while the alcohol (listed as 14.5%) throws off a touch of heat. Solid in the middle and lengthy on the finish, this was a crowd favorite that was pegged as a New World offering by virtue of its ripe fruit. Bravo to Benziger for this fine offering! Drink now-2020.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes - waiter thought bottle might be bad because sediment appeared to be overly abundant. Nose consisted of cherries with a slight hint of anise. First impression was of cherries, but heading towards the finish the wine veered towards darker fruit with a hint of cigar. This bottle seemed to still have some life left in it, but overall it was ready to enjoy. Drink now.

  • Decanted bottle for 3 hours and the nose was dense, thick and compacted dark fruit with soft smoke characteristics. Light cassis on the background. The overall impression was thickly thin texture of dark cherries, tobacco and cocoa; the soft tannins are beginning to fade. Relaxed and lingering with a tad of an alcohol kick. (14.5% alcohol). But when paired with Lamb & Indian spices and curried beans with a fresh salad - this wine held up quite well. Drink now, or you may lose that fruit.

  • Brill popped this at his crib to celebrate his 31st. Very nice.
Darker mountain fruit. Black plum, some iron minerals, cedar and pencil lead.
Palate is balanced but robust showing a touch of heat. This is drinking nicely now and probably won't improve much with any more age.
Brill's had this for eight years and it was enjoyable opening it tonight with such close friends.

  • Very dark colored wine. Nose full of chocolate, coffee, licorice and super ripe sweet black fruit amd a hint of Cabernet vegetality. Full bodied in the palate with sweetness being balanced by a welcome bitterness. Tannins are there but soft and super ripe, acidity is rather medium but wine is balanced nevertheless. Flavors include chocolate, molasses, licorice, coffee and the like. Good bitter-sweet aftertaste. Not my style, but still a very well made big and bold wine.
