The label is a 5 inch long gold metal crocodile with a sapphire studded color and ruby eyes affixed to the front of the bottle. Obtained during a visit to the winery and from our guide quite a story behind the originator of this winery and how he met his demise at the hands of said croc. This is a very nice red BDX blend. Plenty of dark red/black fruit. Typical red blend nose with briar. Tannins still very present but not harsh. Good full mouthfeel. Not WOTN but up there in the running. Everbody loved it. |

Taste is similar with notes of maple syrup and necco wafers. Tastes like it has a little of that heavily extracted Zinfandel in it. Big heavy bottle had me expecting more of the big Napa “punch” style. Low tannins but tangy lingering acidity beginning with the mid palate. Medium bodied. Easy drinker and with good QPR. About 89-90. |

Flavor profile is similar, but also features milk chocolate and jammy red fruit. A rich, concentrated, extracted wine with mouth-coating body and chewy tannins. It may lack some concentration and acidity that would put it into a higher echelon, but it's quite a terrific wine for the price ($30 from Rye Brook). |
