2005 Hangtime Cellars Pinot Noir Bourgogne

Plastic cork. Barely any nose to speak of even after a couple days open. Straight, linear red wine that is richer than I expected. Couldn't identify it as Pinot but couldn't say it wasn't either. Shows some balancing acids but not strongly. It's just red wine. Is it a value for $3? Hard to say. I'm not buying anymore since there was nothing to make me want more. But there is certainly nothing flawed about this wine or that stands out as being a big negative either.

I have to agree with everyone else. Little to no nose to speak of. A little red fruit and spice. The palate is of tart cherries and maybe a hint of fig, which is what I've come to expect from low end Pinot Noir. This wine is definitely not worth the $15 tag. There are amazing wines to be had at that price point and this fell very short.

Well-made from unripe fruit. Nothing can save this wine from being green and tangy, with vegetal overlay. Absolutely requires food to consume. A steal at 2.99 from Trader Joe's......that is they stole the TJ buyer's money on this one.

Okay low-end pinot, fruit was a little thin, acidity okay, but no complexity or length. At least it tasted like a Pinot (most sub-15 pinot don't).

Hoping for something cool from a great '05 vintage. Drinkable, simply another mediocre pinot noir, join the club...

I expected this $10 Pinot Noir to be swill, but was pleasantly surprised. Still, the problem with PN is that it's either great or mediocre. Even in that price range, there are tons of wines that are delicious and more fun to drink.

Cherry dominates the nose with subtle cedar notes. A nice blend of cherry, cedar, earth and vanilla tastes with a supple mouth feel and a medium short refined finish. A good smooth drinking QPR Pinot that is ready to drink now, don’t hold.

Drank over two nights. First night, not great. Thin, not very interesting. I would give more of a tasting note, but there was not much taste. The second day, there was a chill left from the over-night in the fridge. Today, it resembled an average Beaujolais, which is a good thing (at least better than yesterday).

What an awful wine. Watery, lacking flavor, extremely low alcohol and a non-existent finish. Amazingly, a bad value even at $6.99. What a disappointing French Pinot Noir. The problem I have with wines like this, is that somebody might be turned off to the varietal in general after experimenting with this one. Avoid like the plague at any price.

Not too offensive but disjointed, relevant acidity, hollow in the middle, uninspiring, and with a little bit of fakeness.

Light golden color. Very buttery on the nose. It is almost all you can sense on the nose, with very subtle lemongrass, tangerine nuances. This is a full bodied chardonnay with a respectable oak influence, or maybe a little bit too much. Fruit, oak, and acidity are a little bit all over the place; a little bit disjointed. Unfortunately, I'm not pairing this wine with a dish at the moment, but all in all, I bet it would come together fairly well. I did used it to boost a mushroom risotto that I'm cooking, and I bet that it gave it some good character. I suspect that the fruit that lies under that bed of oak is pretty good quality and enjoyable.

Not good and only borderline drinkable. I think this should have been consumed on purchase 3 years ago, as it is not aging well.

Not a huge fan of this wine, but I have to admit its the secod time I've thrown a bottle into a mixed case. Overall, a little watery and not much of a finish, but its drinkable and has a nice berry/acid balance. As long as you don't set your expectations too high you can't be too disappointed with a $13 wine.

The best bottle of them. Very distinct oak and apple. I think the inconsistency is due to their age (5 years).

Every one of these bottles has been different, probably due to their age (2002). This one was on it's way to a desert wine - it tasted like carmel syrup.

Drank this one over 2 nights. Slightly corky nose but didn't taste corked, pretty bland. Second night was better - cork nose was gone and there was a slight caramel flavor, but not much finish to speak of. Near the end of it's life, obviously.
