4/21/2022 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 89 pointsUsed a cup for beef stew and poured a taste. Definitely rather closed, so put in a stopper and set back in wine closet for a day. Opened up and silky smooth on day 2. Still has a strong backbone though. Dark fruit, but earthy, not jammy. Pairs well with rich stews, fatty meat dishes. |

2018 Cantina Zaccagnini Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Il Vino dal TralcettoMontepulciano more |
11/20/2021 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 87 pointsNot sure why CT classifies this as a rose. It's a red. Nice food friendly Italian red. Low in tannins, but with moderate acidity. Aerated for about 2 hours before finishing on day 2. No dramatic improvement but it did develop a bit of sweetness on the front palate. Otherwise, pleasant and moderately full body with some dark fruit and medium finish. |

5/5/2018 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 92 pointsWow, what a nice Syrah. Very Rhone like. Athletic, yet elegant at the same time. Drinking very well now. Nice structure, but tannins are velvety and alcohol is not hot. Fruit is present. Everything is very balanced. |

2004 Château GloriaSt. Julien Red Bordeaux Blend more |
5/4/2017 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 88 pointsStill holding up well. Needs about an hour of aeration to open up, otherwise it is quite firm and closed up. Drinking well right now. Tannins have softened nicely, but still has some structure. Very dark, inky purple with corresponding dark fruit. Not very complex, but enjoyable. |

3/12/2016 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 88 pointsSurprised at some of the reviews on this. Drank it over three days. I did not find it to be candied or sweet at all, but rather meaty for a Pinot. Certainly not light bodied either. Of course, it is lighter than a Syrah or Cab, but still quite full figured and seductive. A bit funky on the nose with earth, mushroom, and barnyard aromas, but not overpowering, just enough to peak my curiosity. Meaty flavors of bacon, olives, and some bing cherry thrown in to add some brightness. Was a gift, so not sure about the price point, but I really like it. |

4/24/2015 - Gwalchgwynn Likes this wine: 91 pointsRusset colored, like dried blood. Tobacco and woody aromas with smoke and oak. On the palate as well along with dark fruit. Still has some serious structure, so could probably last a few more years easily. A big, enjoyable Barolo. |
