I munnen var den strukturert med høy syre og en rund munnfølelse. Hint av fat, men pent balansert. Ellers er mandel, etter min mening, den dominerende aromaen over sitrusfrukter og epler. Kompleks og deilig, men for meg blir mandel og det oksidative en tanke for dominerende. Når kveite med smørsaus kommer på bordet er vinen imidlertid ypperlig. Dette gjelder også for harde, modne oster, til dessert.

Old wine, which, despite its age, still has a lot of spark.

Colour: Beautiful dark amber
Nose: raisins and dried fruits, blue cheese, red apple and honey
Mouth: tastes of dried fruits, but not as sweet as the sugar content would let you believe. savoury and with good acidity still. A long, almost salty finish. Medium plus intensity.

Not the most complex wine, but a nice experience. Worked very well with a cheese platter consisting of both blue cheese, soft and hard cheeses.

This can probably be stored for many years to come, but I’m not sure if it will get any better.

Edit: On day two. It still holds up, but with notably more oxidative notes in the form of fallen apples and sherry

Starting to develop some tertiary aromas, but still very primary. Nicely oaked (not too heavy, but just enough to add to the complexity with aromas of spices), with aromas of cherry, dried tobacco leaves, spices and dried fruits. In the mouth, the wine is Structured, with high acidity and gripping tannins. This, in combination with the long finish, suggests that this can develop nicely for many years to come.

Palate: starting to develop a creamy mouthfeel, but it also have some texture to it. Tastes of honey, lemon and orange marmalade. Wonderful acidity balances out the sweetness and the taste lingers forever.

I drank 2002 of this wine earlier this year. I will by a case of the 2015 and cellar for the next 10-15 years.

Very little reductiveness and is in a good place to drink now I would say. However, it will probably develop nicely over many more years if you prefer tertiary aromas.

It was tight the first hour or so, but from there on it took me on a journey as it changed aromas every half hour. The sky is the limit for this wine and if you give it more years to develop in the bottle it will definitely repay you with even more complexity.

Is it worth its price? What I do know is that I will remember this evening for a long long time.

Edit: 3 days later and I’m still salivating by the thought of it. I will taste again in 10-20 years!

This is still a delicious wine, characterised by dark fruits, spices and oak. After an hour in a decanter it starts to display tobacco notes. It will probably gain more tertiary notes with more air.

Lukket de første 30 minuttene. Deretter åpnes det for solbær, lakris, hint av tobakk og kjeller. Det er også treverk. Dessverre blir eikebruken mer fremtredende etter hvert som temperaturen øker og vinen får luft. Jeg drikker skjelden Zinfandel og ble litt skuffet over at vanillin tar såpass mye plass. Noe alloholsterk med sine 14.5%, men det syntes jeg den bærer bra.

Alt i alt en deilig vin til tørrhengt entrecôte og foran peisen utover kvelden. Har spart litt til i morgen, så får vi se hvordan vinen smaker da. Denne kan fint ligge i mange år til.

I had previously only tasted Grillo in Marsala and bought this more out of curiosity than anything else. Once in a while, when exploring lesser know varieties to expanf your horizon, you stumble upon great wine you just can’t get enough of. This, for me, definitely belongs in that category.

The wine has a beautiful straw yellow colour. On the nose if offers ripe stone fruits, lemon, crushed stone, honeydew (melon), almonds, wood and lemon zest. Also minerals and maybe a touch of wood.
The wine is medium + bodied and taste of ripe stone fruit with a beautiful acidic sting, which follows through the whole, long taste curve. Some almonds in there as well.

The producer recommend storing it for 10 years. I will definitely buy more to drink now and also hold back a few to be opened many years from now.

Typical Alta rioja with flavours of plum, cherries, oak and some spice. Its also starting do develop some earthy aromas. Started to really open up after about 3 hours in a wide decanter.

Although it cant compete with the 2010 vintage, its still a
great wine If you like Rioja.

What a well balanced and smooth wine. Of course, the presence of oak does not go unnoticed, but it’s not at all dominating despite its young age.

It’s got all the typical traits you would expect from a high quality Rioja, but got less oak, more fruitiness and feels fresher and more crisp. I really enjoy these modern Riojas.

Cant wait to taste this again in 10-15 years!
