2005 Domaine Joseph Roty Bourgogne Cuvée PressonnierPinot Noir more |
6/1/2022 - bertie Likes this wine: 92 pointsRecommended by Bill Nanson of Burgundy Report. This is such a lovely drinkable wine. Don’t think it has a long life left but drinking well now; Pinot purity. Quite a cheesy nose; also notes of Tabasco (identified by someone else). Wonderful relaxed faintly fruity palate. You don’t see much love for Roty but this gives measured (for what it is) pleasure. I would be more than happy to know that I had 20 cases of this (or the equivalent) drinking over the next 20 years. Giving it 92 to signify the pleasure given. |

3/21/2020 - bertie Likes this wine: 92 pointsOpened (for comparison) after finishing a bottle of L. Boillot, Gevrey, villages, 2005 (which was absolutely lovely). There are lots of similarities between the wines. As with the Gevrey (see tasting note on cellar tracker), this is well made and lovely. Perhaps less spicy, red fruits still apparent on the palate and I think there is more time left with this wine (a little bit of tannin still evident). So, justifies (?) the 1er cru status in that sense. 92 |

3/21/2020 - bertie Likes this wine: 92 pointsAbsolutely lovely. Faint cinnamon/spice on the nose. Lovely red fruit palate. Very soft/gentle but lovely palate. Not much tannin so no idea how long this will last. Probably at peak but defer to others who know better. 92 |

2/22/2020 - bertie Likes this wine: 91 pointsTasting Note after an hour: Quite dry to start with but softened with something to eat. Typical Clusel style; a Burgundian lightness. Some fruit on the palate but fading; very light leather note. Lovely wine to drink and appreciate. Has peaked and unlikely IMHO to last much longer. |

5/20/2017 - bertie Likes this wine: 90 pointsHad a few bottles of this and always enjoyed. Tonight, no bricking at edge yet. But nose of fruit and some leather. Very easy palate; fruit, violets, some savoury (leather) elements (after an hour or so). Little bit of tannin. At the top of the hill right now. Gorgeous. 90-92 |

9/28/2012 - bertie wrote: 90 pointsThin-ish nose with savoury elements but lovely drinking. Starts quite tart but softened over the first hour and with food. Toothsome pure cherry fruit with secondary characteristics. Tannins resolved. Yes, lovely. Not sure that this will improve or how long it will last. Overall, fine. |

8/4/2008 - bertie wrote: 87 pointsLovely sweet deep black fruit which will last for a few years. Love the flavours. But, tannins have always been noticeable: 2003 factor? or simply opened too young? (suspect the latter) |

8/1/2008 - bertie wrote: 88 pointsI was very taken by the first bottle I tasted of this in about 2003. Incredible fruit: so much so I bought several cases. But it has turned out to be infuriatingly inconsistent - some bottles meeting expectation (eg. at my wife's birthday dinner- thank the Lord), others falling considerably short. Bottle variation? Root days and fruit days? Drinking it during its dumb phase? Who knows? But tonight, it is was lovely mature bottle of claret. The fruit is there but it now has a more complex palate: earthy? leathery? minerally? Above all, it is a balanced moreish wine (with roast chicken and trimmings which was one sprout short of a Xmas lunch). |

7/28/2008 - bertie wrote: 89 pointsA lovely wine and very good value (about £11.50, Waitrose). Rich, fruity (soft raspberry) and refreshing. A little bit of tannin at the end. Every wine I have had from Minervois La Liviniere (esp. Eulalie) seems to be like this: high quality punching well above its price point |

7/21/2008 - bertie wrote: 87 pointsRuby/Maroon. Good fresh nose. Soft faint raspberry palate with a little complexity: leather? barn? Fresh well balanced acidity. Acidity seems to be a character of 2002 burgundies which I have tried (eg. Hudelot-Noellat Bourgogne where the acidity was a little excessive IMHO). A very nice wine and good value. |

6/30/2008 - bertie wrote: 86 pointsDon't know if this style of wine is usual for Graves. Clean fruity nose. Lovely peach flavoured palate but not sweet. However, it has a distinctly savoury (my wife says bitter) finish. Not, for me, a sipping wine. Better with food on second day (but finish still noticeable). Jury out. |
