Soaring nose, cherry and plum, leather. A touch of residual tannin on the finish. The acidity will carry this through. Lovely. 12.5%

Drunk over 2 days, this never quite hit the mark. Well made, rounded, but lacking either the fruit or feral intensity I'm look for in Gigondas.

Slightly tannic on opening but placid w/ a 2hr decant. Served in Reidel Burgs. I serve all my reds in the high 50s / very low 60s. Clos des Pape is one of the few CDPs I still enjoy for it's balance, red fruit and nuance. Never feels heavy & nor heady. Think this is largely at peak. I do have one left and will finish it off next year. 14% alc. 92+/93

Creamy lemon, some minerality, all overlaid with integrated oak, this is very good value for burgundy

A well-crafted wine, not hugely complex but expertly constructed. Nice whiff of gunflint reduction on the nose, ripe citrus and orchard fruit, perfect weight (12% ABV), lovely balance, perfectly judged oak, complete finish with very good length. A ripe but elegant style, expresses itself very well.

PnP, chilled. A nice lightly oaked Chardonnay from Napa. The color was a clear medium yellow. Notes of stone fruits and citrus on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate showed these stone fruits, some melon, yellow apple, lots of lemon citrus, and just a touch of oak as the wine warmed. The acidity was fresh and balancing but there was a touch of bitter lemon pith on the finish. Should continue to hold.

18 months on from my last tasting note, and this is now really singing. All it needs is plenty of time in the bottle and patience before opening.

Very nice Pommard, located close to Volnay. Juicy, cherry, strawberry and cranberry, mushroom/forrest floor, good acidity, elegant wine. Eco/Bio.

This continues to improve with time. Has a somewhat cool-climate feel about it. Quality stuff but might be overpriced at about $70.

I had zero expectations for this bottle as it had moved many times with me to various cellars since 2011. It was delicious !! Can’t see it improving and better drink up but WOW

There was overwhelming ash on the nose that seemed to improve after more than an hour. Hard to asses because of the ash odor, other characteristics like fruit seemed to be in balance. Other reviews have noted this "ash" feature while others have not. A very strange bottle right now.

Rating this higher than I did a year ago. Tannins still prominent. I'd give it another 5 years minimum if you want to experience the wine's best.

Agree w/ Maliblue. Red/Black. A nosegay of red and blue fruits, caramel, herbs, faint tabac. Umami mouthfeel. Small percentage of new oak -- the rest neutral (for 22 months) -- result in the sensation of tannic integration, yet remind us of the landscape of the grapes' origin. An ideal harvest of lush red, black and blue fruit give a rounded impression of maturity that is deceptive for this wine's youth. Buoyant acids fortune-tell a long life; one that should only heighten my current appraisal and score. 15% abv. (barely noticeable). D/H. Highly Recommended.

Served double blind.
Last battery, also the least one. It shows a more fine and fresh nose than the modern Sandrone, but it is still so tannic to be enjoyed and obviously less complex than the other ones. Actually the less appreciated of the day IMHO. 88

Last battery, also the least one. Very tertiary at the beginning, then more typical. In the mouth muscles and tannins. Not my favourite today, only better than 2008 Bricco Sarmassa Brezza. 88-89

A touch lower than the last time ( Papies 91) and on the day had a bitter edge that sort of spoilt the otherwise beautiful and well expressive wines. We have a few more and we remain hopeful. 90?

Earlier Cellar Tracker ratings are, perhaps a little harsh, but I admit to finding difficulty finding positive things to say about this wine. It has seen better days. Fruit is still present, but I doubt it will outlive the tannin. Drinkable but not memorable in any positive way.

The wine looks yellow gold colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like lemon and pear. It tastes like lemon, pear and rose. The body is light/medium. The wine has silky texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

The cork broke upon removal, so I had to push the remainder into the bottle then decant the wine through a filter. Apparently, no harm was done as the wine was wonderfully enjoyable, and the wine, in fact, opened a bit while in the decanter. Chilled.
The color was a clear medium yellow. Notes of orange, citrus and minerality on the nose. The medium to plus bodied palate yielded all of the above with the orange, some peach and lime citrus leading the way. As sweet as expected for a Spatlese with good acidity to keep everything in balance. Not sure it's going to get any better but should continue to hold.

Pale golden color; fruity, sweet nose singing even though the wine is completely dry. Dried pear interwoven with balancing acidity.
On the palate completely dry , a good mouthful, svelte, well balanced, medium long finish. svelte.
Good wine with aging potential.

So I am trying the 2021. Tasted at La cave and trying a few days later. I would decant or at min air this a few hours so the new oak wears off and integrates a bit more. Deep purple color. Red cherry, vanilla, white pepper, wet forest floor on the nose. Med acidity, med body, med alcohol, med flavor intensity, med tannins and med finish. A bit too much fresh oak, and hence toasted vanilla, but I believe this will integrate with time or enough decanting. Like the freshness of the red cherry, greenness of the tannins and balanced vanilla and white pepper to bring some roundness. Good effort and like this style if it was not for the overly vanilla from the oak - but that is personal. QPR is great anyways.

I opened this and poured a bit off for about 4 hours before drinking. For a wine this young, it is shockingly open and generous as it fills the glass up with tones of strawberries, sour red cherries, dark red fruits, savory herbs, licorice, rose petals, fresh leather, and some petrichor notes. The Full bodied feel is silky and long with tart, high acidity and silky, yet youthful, high tannins. This is just flat out gorgeous. Even at this young stage, this is an absolute beauty of a Barolo. There is clearly a long life ahead of it, but it really is shockingly open to drink right now.

Served double blind.
It starts really subdued, with atypical hints, in a nearly light ruby glass. The first 20 minutes it makes me think about a F.lli Alessandria cru (but the organizer tells me that they usually have problem with mantaining the ruby colour in old wines). Over time it opens completely, showing all the elegance and noble freshness it can show, almost like some Burgundy Chambolle crus. It wins by a little over the 2008 Rinaldi Brunate, which I admit is more complex and complete, but it lacks a bit of such a rare elegance. 95++
