5 hour decant. Served at 16c. An excellent wine - seems at its peak with everything in harmony. Wonderful mature grenache fruit with nice balance.

Lækker og letdrikkelig pinot. Lidt mere rank og lidt mindre “jammy” end 2016-årgangen, hvilket formentlig alene kan tilskrives den lidt yngre alder. Ellers konsistent kvalitet med åben og lækker næse med hindbær, røde kirsebær, ribs samt krydderurter med timian og især salvie og til sidst lidt sød tahitivanille. I munden er vinen let i teksturen med røde kirsebær og solmodne skovjordbær samt en mellemlang eftersmag. Fin rank syre og få tanniner. Dejligt glas vin, der kan nydes alene eller med mad fx grillet fisk eller lyst kød. Drink nu og +5 år.

Medium taste of ripe strawberry, morello cherry, forest floor, licorice, tobacco, anise and smoke. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium (+) tannins. Full body. A very good Barbaresco with great potential. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with beef, lamb or mushrooms.

Medium (+) taste of bruiced yellow apples, baked lemon, toast, chalk, mushrooms, caramel, honey, brioche and wet stone. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good NV Champagne. Needed half an hour in the glass to open. Drink now or over the next five years. Goes well as an aperitif, or with cured meat or mushrooms.

In der Nase viel dunkle Kirsche, etwas Vanille, deutlich Nelke, etwas Pfeffer. Mit viel Luft auch etwas frisch-kräutrig. Der Wein braucht insgesamt viel Luft, ich habe ihn mit positiver Entwicklung startend bei „sehr verschlossen“ über zwei Tage getrunken.

Am Gaumen ist das typisch einerseits recht fest und kompakt, dazu kühl, dunkel und vor allem mit sehr hoher, saftiger Säure mit viel Zug ausgestattet. Auch hier ist der Wein sehr dunkel, deutlich dunkel-mineralisch mit viel schwarzem Stein. Es gibt reichlich Tannin, allerdings sehr gut eingebunden und positiv-stützend.

Lang und anhaltend, das macht Freude und ist ein Wein zum Entdecken und Genießen.

Kød på næsen sammen med mørke bær, sort oliven og mild fadkrydderi. I munden fremstår den mørkfrugtet, men dog frisk. Syren er en kende for fremtrædende på dette punkt. Måske den skal ligge et par år endnu.

Look what showed up after my Grange 1996... this was served blind to us.

Nose was black fruit forward, with blackcurrant and berry liquor aromatics. Came across as being quite obviously Bordeaux like but much richer.

Ultra dark core. I thought.. Napa 2015.


Colour: Deepest garnet and near opaque with tinges of purple.

Nose: Blackfruit, light cassis and classic Bordeaux claret.

Palate: More black fruit, richness and concentration, with hints of rich cedar and vanilla on the back palate.

Mouthfeel: Amazingly toes the line between power but remains so balanced.

Brother RN who generously shared this blue-blooded icon with us all at his Thanksgiving and cosy Birthday bash in Bref at Taman Tun, teasingly unzipped the neoprene sleeve.. I saw a peek of the rounded label, my jaw dropped.

It's a Harlan. I was speechless!


Simply amazing.. the timing of this iconic bottle.
It was the last wine served in the evening, at close to 10pm.

Brother RN nonchalantly said he had brought a "bonus" wine along, and wanted to share it with us.

Mind you I typically find the experience of a bonus forgettable, as one is either too intoxicated or it is somewhat a modest and forgettable ubiquitous 2nd or even 3rd wine, from either a lesser maker or unoutstanding vintage.

Never have I been.. speechless at the unveiling of a bonus bottle!!

2014 is described as a dream vintage in Napa.
Napa Valley's harvest was unusually early this year, not surprising given the state’s ongoing drought, which was so extreme that the cover crops in many vineyards never took hold.

Substantial rain in late February and early March relieved most of the stress and set up the vines for a vigorous start.

"Early" was the key word all season, from budbreak to veraison to harvest. Thankfully, the hotter months proved milder than most expected.

Took a while a while to open up. 5hrs decanted and then drank over 3 hours. Ripe strawberries, raspberries, cherries, plums, forest floor, mushrooms, and spice box/mineral finish. Absolutely delicious.

Immediately shows a huge bouquet of olives, blueberries and white pepper, savoury, deep, complex, flavors of olive brine, celary, plum and raspberry paste, long lasting finish, the feel is smooth and calming, has personality and charm, great stuff, drinking well now, more years to go as well

100 percent Cab, so rare to see this. Really solid. Fruit-forward, slight jam, more savory. Tannins present but not intrusive.

Sure, this will get better with age but boy is it tasty now. Black fruit and Vosne spice with hints of oak, the palate has a roundness and sweetness that make it effortless to drink. This wine shows a ripeness that I’d be surprised the 2012 had at age 4. The 2012 I had a couple years back has an ethereal elegance that I wonder if the 2020 will age into, given that it seems bigger and richer. Either way, I have high hopes for this vintage.

Spannender Riesling von auf Melaphyr gewachsenen, bis zu 60 Jahre alten Rebstöcken aus der geschichtsträchtigen Monopollage Heiliger Blutberg. In der Nase Gummi, nasser Stein, feuchtes Stroh, Kreide, reifes gelbes Steinobst, Honig und ein Hauch Marzipan. Am Gaumen feine Säure, ganz dezente Restsüße, etwas nussig, sehr würzig, saftig, gute Mundfülle, salzig und zunehmend zitrisch. Hat mächtig Zug, Tiefe und einen stattlichen Nachhall. Bin gespannt auf die Entwicklung.

Solid well made wine but lacks the vegetal character of cab franc and reminds me more of a leaner Malbec. Plum, bramble, leather, tobacco, spicy. Medium-full body, low-medium acid, low-medium tannins. Accessible crowd-pleaser. Expected even better for a $20 Argentinian wine.
