Nearly 9 years after the prior: This has developed beautifully. Pale ruby at the rim. Essence of forest floor and savory mushrooms. Suggestions of white ground pepper. Texture is somewhat creamy, backed up by lovely acidity. Perfectly in balance. Extremely enjoyable over three nights, gas in between. We are happy to have another, and hope to wait a couple years before opening — but it’s so good now we may not resist.

Five months after the prior: Lovely again, and once more showing enjoyable yeasty/toasty notes. Highly enjoyable over five nights, gassed in between.

Medium straw in color. Bright, energetic, with nice acid backbone. Friendly and refreshing, even though it showed a bit of heat. (Stated ABV only 13.4.) Quite enjoyable over four nights, gassed in between.

Another very good bottle. Nose of fresh blue fruits, blueberries, bacon fat, lavender and wet hemp. It was a last minute decision so it only got 3+ hours of air. It just kept getting better and better as it sat in the glass. This wine can age for many more years so I’ve tucked 6 deep in my cellar to see how it is in 5-7 years. Love this.

10 months after the prior and our seventh: Lovely again, with a trademark cornucopia fascinating flavors. Yet, again, this vintage seems just a bit less intense and voluptuous compared to prior and subsequent vintages. Highly enjoyable over four nights, gassed in between.

Continuing the theme of drinking 2003’s with my 2003 baby, legal at last. Darker gold color than most bottles, but did not seem more oxidized than it should be for the style. Delicious apple and orchard fruit, waxy, nutty, hint of petrol, dry on the palate despite the nose suggesting sweet fruit. Overalll delicious and great with our appetizers of mussels and escargot.

Nice expression of Livermore CS but with a slight bitterness on the finish that kept it from scoring into the 90’s.

reminded me of the Caymus Special Selection 2016 I drank recently, New World fruit, lower on the tannins and acid, enjoyable but lacked complexity

Dark red in color. 14.8% ABV. Sublime nose of red and black fruits, citrus, licorice and pepper. Medium body with perfect acidity and balance. Bursting with rich, lush fruits. Raspberry, cranberry, salmonberry and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. This Zinfandel has aged beautifully and could not be more in my wheelhouse. Best over the next 1-2 years.

Greatly exceeded expectations for a $17 bubble. Apparently made by Traditional Method, it's concentrated, bright and fruity with visible viscosity and firm, mouth-filling petillance. Makes one wonder why sparkling sauvignon blanc is so rare.

I'm largely unconvinced. Seems a bit underdone (young vine fruit?), medium weight at best, and the fruit profile is a little brittle. Bright palate with plenty of acid. Might be one for the traditionalists.

Terrible, amateurish red grape juice masquerading as Pinto. Too fruity, too much alcohol, no finesse.

Yuck! If you receive this as a gift, you know your acquaintance doesn’t hold you in high esteem.

Perhaps the most herbacious aroma I've ever encountered. Basil, celery, vegetal, black cherry.
Lots of earthy notes. Just delicious.

I was shocked by how good condition this was in until it occurred to me the 16.3% means it's somewhat port-like 😄
Dried strawberry and berry fruits, slight dusty feel to it. Fruit holding up well and the alcohol doesn't really seem out of place despite being so high. Lacking some herbal freshness or something to counterpoint the fruit.

Citrus, chalky minerality, decent body medium body, very well balanced. The best Sancerre I have had to date. Very little or no oak.

Drinking very well. Enjoyed with baked pompano and king crab legs. Fit well with my preference for French style versus the California heavy oak.

Lighter-bodied than expected, I guess that's Canada being cool climate? Dark fruits, a hint of stalky greenness, some spice. Maybe a bit short on complexity to be something really special but this was very enjoyable drinking.

The last of a wine added to my cellar in 2013. Decanted and enjoyed over two hours. A really, very rewarding wine that evolved and got more interesting over the evening. The aroma of red fruit evolved while decanting and then settled into a more balanced red, dark and earthy aroma. Balanced on the palate and a long pleasing finish. Should have bought a case when I could have!

The lady of the house asked to drink a good bottle tonight so everything was on the line. 😂

Medium-intensity aromas of perfume, salt, smoke, cream, baking spice, blackberry, and cassis. The flavours were consistent with the aroma, with hints of milk chocolate, green peppercorn, and tomato leaf. Complex wine with a long finish and paired excellently with butter chicken roti. The old lady loved it and said it was like a Pinotage, but better.

Canadian Wine to Celebrate 30 Years in Canada Today. 62.5% Merlot, 12.5% Cab, 11.8% Petit Verdot, 7.7% Cab Franc, & 5.5% Malbec. It had sediment, but the colour showed no signs of aging.

The wine had medium (+) aromas of plum, black cherry, blackberry, tilled soil, violet, maraschino cherry, & bell pepper. It was fruity on the nose and palate but not overripe. Medium (+) acidity with medium (-) tannins, which were high on opening. I wish I had another bottle.

Light greenish yellow. A fresh Alsatian Riesling thru and thru, from its slightly flinty nose to its zippy finish. A wine that takes time to wake up upon opening. Extremely well-made. Should last for perhaps a decade if well stored. Fantastic value.

A perfect digestif, not too sweet, really complex, but certainly enough alcohol to finish a good dinner!

Hauvette Dinner: Opened after a nice 'Hauvette' diner, because one of my friend had never tasted old Sauternes.

On the nose dried apricot, oak.
On the palate, a really fine and elegant wine, honey, apricot jam, hazelnuts pralines.

The finish is really long, and sweet.

P.S.: The wine was really closed upon opening, it needed a good hour to begin to live in our glass!

Hauvette Dinner: Tasted just after the 'Roucas' 2021, same way : pop and poured, no aeration what so ever!
A wine that is clearly fuller, wider than his little brother, still a nice acidity, but there is no more burgundy-like style.

The wine is darker more extracted, on the nose its more complex, there is a delightful spicy caracter.
On the palate we have some dark fruits, balanced with licorice, vanilla, and a hint of garrigue.

The length is really enjoyable, you really see the increase in quality compared to the other cuvée, really worth its price (42€).

A good buy!

Very interesting blend where 60% Chardonnay from Mesnil sur Oger meets 40% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay.

The nose is rich. We feel the solar maturity of the vintage with aromas of toast and spices, nuts, vanilla and cinnamon.

Beautiful full mouthfeel, all freshness but with an attack that is both dense and rich. The juice has beautiful flavors of cocoa butter, tropical fruits and saffron. In many aspects, Pinot Noir dominates on the palate. The wine is well structured, served by a beautiful tension which ensures the balance of the whole. Second part on smoke and red fruits. Beautiful, finely wooded finish which synthesizes this wine between freshness, richness and evolution over a chalky length.

Excellent champagne which drinks very well today.

Saline, like a fresh ocean breeze. White flowers. Minerals. Lemony zest, almost like lemon wine gum. A bit of honey on the after taste. And a hint of resin. Fresh and quite lean.
