Classic fully mature sangiovese with generous soft red fruit leather and sandalwood incense. Not especially deep or concentrated, but just so good. In perfect nick, and no rush - this has at least another five years.

Smoky and stony. What fruit is there is all pith at the moment. The enormous amount of acidity holds up well to rich food, but when the 2020 GGs are drinking so much better at the moment it doesn't make sense for me to pop any more of these this young.

Amazing wine. Significant concentration, considerable tension from the acidity and chalky minerals. Not your typical Sauv. Blanc tropical fruit bomb. Refined and awesome.

Not enough shoulders for the alcohol. Shame it otherwise had a lot of promise.

Solid, approachable easy drinking cab

Retail $55. Very Heavy Bottle (). I had just popped a 2009 Belle Glos Pinot Noir Las Alturas Vineyard and it was singing (despite being *really* big). So, when my local restaurant was out of the Flowers Sonoma Coast Pinot, I let them talk me into this one. Meh. Sure, I expected this would be "Wagner Family of Wines" big, but I did not think it would be this syrupy and concentrated. It really comes off as a syrah or even a Zinfandel (a very warm climate Zin) and that is not what I want in a Pinot. Sure, it is technically "Very Good" but this is really not a Pinot and the vineyard deserves better. Very Good. 88 Points.

This is quite different from most of my Pinot experiences, but also very interesting. The first taste has that kind of gamey and green leaf flavor that reminds me of Charbono. The color is very dark purple and close to opaque. The nose is roses and crushed plums. Not even medium bodied and relatively delicate considering the nose and color. The plum really intensifies across the palate, extending towards even a wild mulberry. The acid and balance characteristics are ready to enjoy now.

Dinners at home, Mill Valley, CA. From 750ml purchased on release. Popped and poured night 1, with over 1/2 bottle saved for night 2

Elegant, almost ethereal nose with soft gloved power on the palette. Long finish. Mature but far from fading, it came in stronger and more complete after spending a night in the fridge. Night 1 it was a little disjointed, probably due to being P&P (not my usual approach for Nebbiolo). But on night 2 the wine was on point. Reminded me why I love barbaresco.

Ruby, leaning garnet in the glass.

Nose pointed straight to Burgundy, and specifically a producer on the nattier side. It's quite perfumed with a strong sour cherry vibe and definitely whole bunchy.

The palate here is quite transparent and shows a spectrum of red, blue and black fruit. Structurally this is a huge pinot with grippy tannins that together with the flavour profile might have been Gevrey.

Good bit of acidity here and a nice mineral streak completes the wine, although I felt like this wasn't quite ready yet and had the bones to go a decade more even.

It's a great wine but one has to wonder about value. I didn't pay for this and having tasted it, wouldn't shell out more than 100-150 SGD for this.

It's 275 SGD retail.

L93/15. With Spaghetti Bolognese. Sound but crazy tight cork. Cherry, spice, light earth. Not especially tertiary but perhaps fading the fruit. Pleasing, not particularly complex. 89/90 - the wife probably a bit more impressed with it than me.

This bottle was a real surprise. Expected a throwaway, cab notes for cheap, move on. But over two nights I continued to enjoy it. Well made. No rating - we’ll see what bottle #2 brings.

I bought this at Acme in 2016 and they recommended aging it. I'm not sure it lived up to the perceived potential. It's smooth and innocuous. I note the winery hasn't updated their website since the 2014 vintage, so I'm assuming it's gone extinct. Oh well.

Nose of rich blackberry, laurel and cedar. Full-bodied this shows an excess of cedary oak, but also some sweet black and boysenberry as well as spice. Moderately tannic with bright acids, this was an excellent foil to a ribeye but on its own is too acidic and angular for me. Most will enjoy. 90

Not so good. In todays wine market even the lowest price wines have a little merit. This one is on the edge. It seems very manipulated. To its credit it is identifiable as Cabernet. Has the correct color, some stemmy minerality and more red fruit than dark. The acid has been corrected. We didn’t come close to finishing the bottle.

375ml bottle with perfect fill. Dried and fresh apricot comes across as rich and sweet, perhaps not the most complex vintage ever of d'Yquem, but old enough that complexity is coming through nicely.

Figured this was either Jura or a natty VdF - gold in the glass and a little cloudy.

Clean nose with no VA, still relatively citrus forward and quite ripe for how much acidity was here. Did not feel like this was overtly oxidative either.

I think the 4 years in demi-muids helped round out the acidity quite a bit, which can sometimes be a little spiky with Jura wines.

There's also quite a bit of effervescence on the initial attack, not unlike Tony Bornard or Saint Pierre

Really likeable but does it live up to the hype? Think needs a bit more age before we can answer that definitively.

Another very good bottle, 2017 base; a bit deeper color, rich on the nose and depth on the palate, maybe just shy from ideal for me but very delicious, the fuller body and grainy texture stood out to me, more of a meat and potatoes Champagne than most.

This is still over performing for the $8 I paid 10 years ago. Nose is muted, but some remnants of blueberries and black cherry. Leather, earth, and plum flavors with soft, round tannins with good drying amount of drying on the back end to pull things together. At it's peak, but still better than many $50 cabs

Light steely green; very youthful as expected but quite compact on day 1, luscious fruit and viscous texture but not the compelling complexity I was expecting, day 2 this has unfurled slightly to reveal more delineation, salty and smoky, pear and ripe peach, oily and deep on the nose; palate is nicely viscous with fruit cocktail, canned pear and peach juice, textured with good acid but it is a lot of weight to carry; this should age effortlessly and improve but nice to check in on it.

89. Nothing wrong here. Just not exciting. There’s good, sweet fruit; and even a little botrytis that makes the nose in particular intriguing. Goes a little flat, thiugh, with insufficient acidity on the finish.

Good Brunello, classic color, nose, body & structure. Should perform well over time. Has the fruit, lacks the intensity and complexity of top flight brunellos from 2016 vintage. Paired well with olive and cheese.

Classic Nebbiolo nose, tar, bright cherries, roses, and leather. Bright and vibrant on the palate with grippy tannins and some dark chocolate on the finish. Reasonable length too, especially for the price. I haven’t tried my 2019 PdB normales yet but this is a promising sign.

This is almost really special. Cherry and rhubarb nose, pleasing acidity, and good structure on the back end. But mid pallet it is disjointed with some off flavors. Maybe a decant? I really want to like it and has elements that are excellent. Has the structure for a few more years, so let's try it then.

Nose of strawberry, raspberry, cherry and dark chocolate. I would say, fruity and bright. Well made and easy drinking. Not on the earthier, dusty side of Pinot, but more of a bright, fruity style Pinot. It’s really nicely made and gulpable. It paired well with roasted chicken and root veggies and was equally as good the next night with burgers.

Clearly on the young and less evolved side, there was limited development on both the nose and in the palate at this point. For potential, it was better when cooled in temperature so the acidity matched the ripe fruit, but I never felt any brilliance here. Certiainly fine and a pleasant wine. This is perhaps a generous score.

Bit confused as to why everyone thought this was 15% ABV but definitely a cooler-climate vibe going on here.

There's a certain lightness to it that brings to mind the Northern Rhone, in particular - and I keep saying this - Matthieu Barrett. It's intensely floral on the nose with some savoury, olive elements as well.

On the palate it's got a nice round acidity that works beautifully with the new world fruit here. Overall, not unlike other cool-climate styled syrahs from California, like Arnot Roberts, just maybe without the pretty, minimalist labels.

Honeysuckle on nose. Palate full and rounded, flavors of ripe apple and pear. Excellent at this stage, acidity in balance.

A bit of attic funk on the nose, but blew off after 10 minutes. On palate, rich forest berries, figs, minerals, spice, licorice, leather. Plenty of tannins to go still. On day 2, all the fruit disappeared, accentuating the leather and spice.

Very similar impressions to the first bottle we had. This one had an intense sweet perfumed nose and a longish aftertaste. Drank across two nights and found the wine tasted fine both nights. The first night showed more elegance and the second one more power.
