Introduction

Spent a weekend in wine country. Nearly all were tastings at the wineries. Very brief notes on the wines that made an impression one way or the other. Probably tried 2x as many as noted.

Flight 1 (32 notes)

85 points
Pleasant, but not interesting.

Enjoyable spicy red fruit on the nose and palate.
Red
2010 Bergström Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

Quite a bit more structured than the Gregory. Black and blue fruit. A bit tannic on the finish.
Red
2012 Bergström Pinot Noir Bergström Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills
89 points
Structured like the Shea, but much more fruit. Nice, expect this will develop in the near term.
Red
2012 Bergström Pinot Noir Silice USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Chehalem Mountains

My favorite of the tasting. Easy round with dark fruit and slight spice. Less tannic than the others.
Red
2010 Domaine Drouhin Oregon Pinot Noir Laurène USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Interesting nose of dried red and blue fruit with subtle baking spice. Lean and taught in the mouth. Like the tension and spice.
Red
2007 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
87 points
Red fruit, earth and a savory meat note on the nose and palate. Some green notes. Interesting.
Red
2009 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
91 points
Excellent bright red fruit and spice on the nose. Thick and juicy in the mouth. Sexy, but not over done. Slight heat on the finish.
Red
2011 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Estate Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
88 points
White pepper, dark fruit and a slight green note. A bit shallow in the middle palate.
Red
2011 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir West Hill Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
89 points
Much more rounded than the 2011 Estate. Still a bit of white pepper and slight green note. Lovely and fresh dark and red fruit.
Red
2011 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Homer Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
92 points
Big nose of red and black fruit. Pure and fresh. Full and rich in the mouth. None of the green the other 2011s showed.
Red
2012 Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir West Hill Shea Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
92 points
Even fuller and riper than the 2011 Homer. Glossy red and black fruit. Nice depth. Long finish.
Red
2012 Ayres Vineyard Pinot Noir Willamette Valley USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
86 points
Simple red and back fruit. Not much depth. Pleasant.
White
2012 Bergström Chardonnay Sigrid USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Not much on the nose, but a surprisingly creamy and powerful finish sneak up and make this wine quite good.
Red
2011 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Willamette Valley USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Simple red fruit, sweet. Nice grip. Not as much depth as I remember.
Red
2011 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Ribbon Ridge

Excellent red fruit and brilliant spice component. Love the texture and grip.
Red

Quite tannic and a serious green note when compared to the other wines.
Red

Usually my favorite in the lineup, but this was thin, angular and tannic. Nice fruit, but not a good package.
Red

88 points
Nice value. Easy red fruit, slight dried roses. Touch of spice.
Red
2011 Archery Summit Pinot Noir Red Hills Estate USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

Thin compared to the Arcus, but love the red fruit and spice. Nice grip.

Much fuller and more forward than the 2011. Big round dark fruit. Rich. Nice grip.
Red
2005 Domaine Leroy Nuits St. Georges Aux Allots France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Completely agree with the other note. This wine is a brick at the moment. Concentrated dark fruit, tar and spice. Needs lots of time to unwind. Somewhat tannic finish.
Red
2009 Sitar Wines Pinot Noir Verse USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley
91 points
Nice red and blue fruit, a vanilla component. Creamy and full in the mouth. Smooth finish.
Red
2002 William Hatcher Pinot Noir Willamette Valley USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley

Dense, dark fruit. Very ripe. Actually pruned. Full.
