Flight 1 - Raveneau visit 30-10-2023 (10 notes)
Tasting from barrels of 2022. First time I tasted the difference in real life between wine in a barrel of old oak and a barrel of brand new oak which was the case for Les Clos. The difference was of course huge, clear cedar from the oak, of course not yet integrated.
- In general for 2022: The acidity does not seem that high. All cuvees are, according to Maxime, treated the same way in the cellar.
- Petit Chablis: 86, Pale lemon green, green apple and licorice
- Chablis: 87, Medium lemon green, green apple, no licorice, Medium+ acidity, Medium- finish
- Vaillons: 87+, Medium lemon green, medium acidity, green apple, more concentrated than PC and C, medium finish
- Forets: 88, pale lemon green, as expected more concentrated

Flight 2 - Lunch 30-10-2023 (5 notes)
Amazing to experience the difference in style between Raveneau and William Fevre as well as between Arnoux-Lachaux and Roumier.
Arnoux-Lachaux is a middle ground between a natural wine and the classical Bourgogne style (but more natural than classical): Extremely fruity with lots of cherry and strawberry. High acidity, medium tannin, medium+ intensity and long finish. Medium Ruby color. 95
Roumier on the other hand is savoury in style (not close to the fruitiness of Arnoux-Lachaux), red fruit notes but also closed at the moment. High acidity, medium tannin, intensity and finish. Medium ruby color. 93+

Visit at Trapet Pere & Fils. Tasted 10 cuvees from Trapet: 6 btls. from Bourgogne and 4 from Alsace. The clear winner was Le Chambertin 2006, which was nothing but outstanding. I rated it 97. Long after followed Chapelle Chambertin 2017 and Latricieres Chambertin 2011 which I rated 91.
This wine: Dry, Medium+ body, and toasted notes. Medium finish. No further notes taken.
This wine: Medium ruby color. Notes of black cherry and vanilla. No further notes taken.
This wine: Medium ruby color. Notes of strawberry, cherry, forest flor and vanilla. Medium- acidity and tannin. Medium alcohol and body, medium+ finish. Not rated.
This wine: Savoury style, red currant notes. Medium acidity, tannins, alcohol and body.
This wine: Savoury in style with notes of red currant like Chapelle Chambertin. Medium- acidity and medium+ tannins.
This wine: As mentioned it was just outstanding. I notice that WA has only rated it 89. The reason must be it was back in 2009... I actually rated the complex aromas 98: Still fruit of cherry, red currant, strawberry and also tertiary notes of forest flor, farm yard, mushroom. A subtle scent of cedar. I rated the palate 95+ with Medium- tannins, medium alcohol and body, medium+ intensity and long finish. That leaves me with an overall rating of 97
Not my style at all. Based on my personal taste
This wine: Lots of overripe apple with high acidity. No further notes taken. An outstanding wine, 94+

This wine: Notes of cherry, strawberry, and more fruity than Clos Sct. Jacques but less than Clos de Beze. High concentration. Medium+ tannins. 92
My notes are based on the performance of the wine in the barrels at the time I tasted them. They will evolve positively over time. Clos de Beze was my favourite (93) in front of Le Chambertin (92).
This wine: The most fruity of Rousseau's portfolio. According to Ms. Rousseau because it is the one of Rousseau's vineyard plots that faces the sun mostly because of the slope. Lots of cherry but also yet unintegrated cedar from the barrel. Medium+ acidity and high tannins. 93
Flight 5 - Alvina Pernot visit 31-10-2023 (10 notes)
Tasting of vintage 2022 from barrel - 10 cuvees. A modern clean style almost without oak at all. Only limite d notes shown in Cellartracker (takes too long to type).
This wine: Nice toasty
This wine: A little toasty note. Medium+ acidity, less acidity than many of the their cuvees because of late harvest. I expect this wine to develop very positively.
This wine: A little Reduction on the nose but can be swirled away. High acidity. I expect it to develop very positively.
This wine: Lemon and a lot of wet stone. Closed on the nose, more open on the palate with a long finish. High acidity
This wine: Closed on the nose, more open on palate. Elegant but still pretty concentrated with medium finish. I like the style of that cuvee.
This wine: Close on the nose, more open on the palate. Notes of lemon, grapefruit (bitterness), wet stone and toast. A style I like. High acidity and medium finish.
This wine: Deep purple color. High tannin. I did not like it.
Flight 6 - Pierre Girardin visit 31-10-2023 (13 notes)
Tasting of vintage 2022 from barrel - 13 cuvees. He's at his best when it's white wine. Corton Charlamagne was my favourite from this tasting. Only limited notes shown in Cellartracker (takes too long to type).
This wine: very fruity
This wine: I wonder were the aromas of green pepper came from. Not my style
This wine: Medium ruby color. Closed both on nose and palate. High acidity and medium tannin.
This wine: The best of the reds. Medium ruby color. Notes of red fruit, cherry, strawberry, herbaceous and green pepper which I otherwise never get from Pinot Noir. High acidity and medium tannins.
This wine: Delicate red fruit. Medium acidity and tannins.
This wine: Way too much oak at the moment. Very concentrated so maybe it will work with the oak after many years in the cellar which should be possible when you also take into account the high acidity.
This wine: Not my style.
This wine: High acidity with a little bitternes on the palate. I expect this wine ending as excellent
This wine: Wet stone and lemon. Medium acidity. I expect this wine to develop positively. 90+
This wine: Notes of lemon, toast and grapefruit. I expect this wine to develop very positively.
This wine: Notes of wet stone, toast and butter. High acidity. Drinking window:10 years from now. 91+
This wine: Notes of peach, apricot, lemon, toast and cedar (needs time to integrate). Medium acidity, medium+ body and long finish. Outstanding. 94+
Flight 7 - Dinner 30-10-2023 Hostellerie de Levernois (5 notes)
5 different domaines tasted.
Flight 8 - Bouchard Pere & Fils (6 notes)
The guided tour in the gigantic cellars was extremely impressive. To be honest, the wines were not. Tasted 6 different cuvees in the cellar.
This wine: Medium ruby high intensity but without appropriate concentration. Cherry and liquorice.
This wine: Medium ruby high intensity but without appropriate concentration. Cherry and liquorice. Rustic.
This wine: Clearly better than Beaune Clos de la Mousse and Volnay Les caillerets. Medium+ tannins. Too Rustic for me.
This wine: Very closed but tertiary caramel notes... Medium acidity
This wine: 20-30 new oak in 12-18 months. Medium+ acidity.
This wine: Half bottle - maybe therefor it was extremely disappointing. Not what I am used to from other producers from Chevalier Montrachet. Usually my favourite white vineyard (after Le Montrachet...). Most expressive on the palate, not that much on the nose. Reduction in the beginning but could be swirled away. Lemon, peach, apricot and toffee. Medium acidity, medium+ intensity on the palate and long finish. 89+
Flight 9 - Dinner 31-10-2023 Hotel de Beaune (1 note)
Have had enough wine, therefor only 1 bottle for dinner. Arnoux-Lachaux.
Flight 10 - Janots-Bos visit 1-11-2023 (1 note)
Extremely nice visit. The tour around the winery and the cellar - tasting so many cuvees from different barrels and also bottled wines including a lot of interesting winemaker points - was extremely interesting. Thank you. The best wine was Chassagne Montrachet 2014., which is the only one I have rated.
Flight 11 - Lunch at Sufflot 1-11-2023 (3 notes)
Three outstanding wines tasted.
