This is a wine that has almost always thrilled me, but tonight's bottle seemed less fresh, particularly in contrast to the special "Chef de Cave" edition tasted next.

Tasted at gala alongside 1992. Rich black fruit and spice, while wonderfully balanced. Enough structure just off center with everything nicely harmonious.

Tasted at gala dinner. I didn't not the Edition. A wonderful intermezzo between all the Cabernet. Rich and flavorful.

I opened at gala dinner. Certainly dirty to start, this cleaned up slightly with more air, but never cleaned up enough.

Tasted at gala dinner. This far exceeded my expectations, given my experience with this wine and 2005s being generally so brooding and backward. This was fun and fleshy with rich, lush fruit in harmony with its obvious structure. Already very good.

Tasted at gala dinner. Red fruit, savory spice, very Vosne styled, faintly ripe and mature. In a fairly light style for 1er Cru, but balanced and certainly enjoyable.
